[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1465706] Re: New upstream releases of nvidia for 14.04.3

2015-06-29 Thread Alberto Milone
** Description changed:

- Deliver new upstream releases of the nvidia binary drivers for 14.04.3
+ SRU Request:
+
+ [Impact]
+ The nvidia packages in Ubuntu 14.04 do not support the backported kernel from
15.04.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ 1) Enable the trusty-proposed repository, and install the
linux-generic-lts-vivid
+
+ 2) Install one of the available nvidia packages or, if the nvidia driver
+ is already installed, dist-upgrade after adding the -proposed
+ repository.
+
+ 3) Restart and see if the system boots correctly. If unsure, please
+ attach your /var/log/gpu-manager.log and /var/log/Xorg.0.log
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Low, the packages come from either wily or vivid.

** Summary changed:

- New upstream releases of nvidia for 14.04.3
+ SRU: New upstream releases of nvidia for 14.04.3

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308105] Re: Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled

2015-06-29 Thread Ernst Sjöstrand
My best solutions to the MythBuntu/XBMC/Kodi usecase:

1) Run a MythBuntu/XBMC/Kodi-session without any desktop at all! They're in
/usr/share/xsessions/
for running completely standalone.

2) Running a really minimal WM that doesn't try to manage screens at all like
Openbox. Works
well with Steam big picture mode.

2015-06-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
oren, it will help immensely if you file a new report with Ubuntu by executing
the following in a terminal:
ubuntu-bug xorg

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

When opening up the new report, please feel free to subscribe me to it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1404247] Re: Vivid Wallpaper hashed

2015-06-29 Thread jerrylamos
Wily O.K. for a couple weeks and I had my hpes up. Then got dread update:
xserver intel update

Now wallpeper usually boots horizontally striped hashed, sometimes boots
wallpaper O.K.

I don't know how to down level xserver intel?

Wallpaper can be fixed by alternately doing the following once or twice
or three times ...:

#!/bin/bash
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri
'file:home/jerry/Pictures/Shark_Island.jpg'
exit 0

alternately with

#!/bin/bash
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri
'file:home/jerry/Pictures/Shark_Island2.jpg'
exit 0

same jpg with two different names.

Other jpg's fail similarly including default wallpapers.

Note, similar to bug #1406802

2015-06-29 Thread Ragnarel
I have the same problem in a freshly installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

#7, please, can you explain how did you solved it, or which packages you
removed exactly? Thanks in advance.
