[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1470862] Re: When using fglrx module, the virtual consoles are blank and useless
With my ATI HD 7790, I tried the Open Source driver but it doesn't support HDMI audio over DisplayPort. Now I'm not using DisplayPort but I also had no luck because I'm using now two monitors and it also doesn't support that (at least for me). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer-updates in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1470862 Title: When using fglrx module, the virtual consoles are blank and useless To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer-updates/+bug/1470862/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1470862] Re: When using fglrx module, the virtual consoles are blank and useless
In reply to comment https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx- installer-updates/+bug/1470862/comments/5 I recommend you to get rid of fglrx. Open source drivers for AMD work today like a charm. I beg to differ: much as I would really like to get rid of any non-free components, without the fglrx driver *I can't even set the display brightness* let alone do more refined tweaks, furthermore it is needed for a composite window manager (such as Compiz) to work. I'm not saying that open source video drivers don't work, I just can't do all the things I want with them -besides, I know for a fact that virtual consoles didn't disappear in previous Ubuntu releases when using the fglrx driver, so it's clearly a regression that should be fixed ASAP. I can't tell if the problem is the latest fglrx driver itself or some grub setting or whatever, anyways I've tried some suggested workaround such as turning off the graphical terminal or changing the screen resolution in /etc/default/grub and unfortunately it didn't work.
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1476343] [NEW] Freeze on screensaver deactivate when set to lock on screensaver activate
Public bug reported: A few months ago, I started having a problem where my laptop would freeze and require a hard reboot when I tried to wake it from screensaver. I tried turning light-locker off; this fixed the problem. However, now due to company policy, I have to turn light-locker back on, and found that the problem still existed. After some searching, and trying different things, I've found that if I set light-locker to activate on screensaver *deactivate*, then everything works properly, and when I wake the laptop from screensaver, I'm presented with a blank X background and password dialog. If I set light-locker back to activate on screensaver *activate*, then my computer continues to run until I press a key or touch the touchpad, at which point it freezes. Note, I keep suspend and hibernate turned off completely on this laptop, and almost never run on battery. The above happens when plugged into AC power. It would appear to be purely in the realm of light-locker and the screensaver. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1454473] Re: In Ubuntu 15.04, simply moving the mouse via touchpad scrolls the window
Same here also on Dell XPS 13 9343 with the A04 Bios Patch. It is especially annoying in Nautilus and Shotwell, where every moving of the pointer will select anything under the pointer. If you happen to be positioned over an separator (like the one which separates the tree view from the files view) the separator becomes sticked to the pointer and cannot be detached without workaround. As a workaround I touch down on the touchpad with two fingers and lift one after, which wont cause the glitch. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1454473 Title: In Ubuntu 15.04, simply moving the mouse via touchpad scrolls the window To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/1454473/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
