2015-08-04 Thread D. W. Lloyd
Public bug reported:

This happened after installing wine on Xubuntu 14.04 64-bit.

I followed the instructions here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/449507/nvidia-libopencl1-331-has-to-be-removed-before-installing-wine

i.e.

sudo apt-get install nvidia-cuda-toolkit #Need to get 250 MB of archives; 774
MB of additional disk space will be used
sudo apt-get install ocl-icd-opencl-dev #this will remove nvidia-libopencl1-*
and nvidia-opencl-dev
sudo apt-get install wine #Need to get 121 MB; 342 MB of additional disk space

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1481239] [NEW] follow up bug 1405277: screen flicker in ubuntu 14.04.1 and derivatives

2015-08-04 Thread Pedro Bezunartea López
Public bug reported:

In relation with https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1405277

As explained in the bug description, the screen flickers constantly. The
system is a Toshiba Satellite A215-s7437 running ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS. The
video card (from Toshiba's site) is an ATI Radeon X1200 128MB-319MB
dynamically allocated shared graphics memory.

The expected result is obviously having a smooth display, no flickering.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1481330] Re: Reading/setting xprop on Xmir causes it to crash

2015-08-04 Thread William Hua
GTK apps are breaking this because at-spi2-core is calling
XCloseDisplay, not because of XGetWindowProperty.

I tried commenting (https://git.gnome.org/browse/at-spi2-core/tree/atspi
/atspi-misc.c#n1456, XGetWindowProperty call) and this bug still
occurred. Then I tried commenting (https://git.gnome.org/browse/at-
spi2-core/tree/atspi/atspi-misc.c#n1462, XCloseDisplay call) and it
allows GTK apps to run without crashing XMir.

Aside, to run GTK apps under XMir, pass the display name as a command
line argument (--display :1) instead of setting DISPLAY/AT_SPI_DISPLAY.

Actually I did this,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNi8GZVSrTs
And it worked!! It might be because my patch was already applied but I'm not
sure because I only applied it to the deb package. But my graphics is fine now.
I even got the Catalyst Control Centre to work again!

Hi Fem Hugibert R Marak,

Did you tried compiled deb packages from here?

https://www.mediafire.com/?6rtlx30527v4l

upgrade to latest kernel if downgrade was not OK and
sudo apt-get remove fglrx-updates --purge
download compile packages and install them, I hope it will help you

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1465706] Re: SRU: New upstream releases of nvidia for 14.04.3

2015-08-04 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 -
304.125-0ubuntu0.0.2

---
nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 (304.125-0ubuntu0.0.2) trusty-proposed;
urgency=medium

  * debian/templates/control.in:
- Avoid circular dependencies. The nvidia driver will depend on
  nvidia-opencl-icd-$ver, which, in turn, will pull in
  nvidia-libopencl1-$ver. The open icd (i.e. ocl-icd-libopencl1)
  is also available for use as an alternative.
  * debian/substvars:
- Drop lts-utopic and lts-vivid, as depending on xserver-xorg-core and on
the ABI is enough.
  * debian/templates/dkms.conf.in,
debian/dkms/patches/buildfix_kernel_3.19.patch,
debian/dkms/patches/buildfix_kernel_4.0.patch:
- Add support for Linux 3.19 and Linux 4.0 (LP: #1465706).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1410801] Re: [AMD Richland + Topaz XT ] gpu-manager generated xorg.conf is not compatible with switchable graphics

2015-08-04 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package ubuntu-drivers-common - 1:0.2.91.10

---
ubuntu-drivers-common (1:0.2.91.10) trusty-proposed; urgency=medium

  * gpu-manager.c, gpu-manager.py:
- Use the amdconfig tool to configure multi-amd PXpress. This
  fixes a problem where the AMD control panel won't show an
  option to switch between power saving mode and performance
  mode on AMD+AMD hybrid systems (LP: #1410801).
- The tests now reflect a more relaxed approach so that we
  do not overwrite configurations that are not supported (such
  as multiple xscreens set in the xorg.conf).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1481327] Re: fglrx-updates-core 2:15.200-0ubuntu4.1: fglrx-updates-core kernel module failed to build

2015-08-04 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Last night after applying the patch my computer worked like a charm and
I was even able to play DotA 2 and get a very good fps but this morning
after a restart the whole thing went bad again... I don't know if it was
me or if it was my compilation but it's so laggy now that even Mozilla
hangs my PC on multiple tabs (4-5) usually I would be able to open at
least 16 tabs with no problem at all just the occasional hang. Please
can somebody help me?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1481330] Re: Reading/setting xprop on Xmir window causes it to close

2015-08-04 Thread Christopher Townsend
I also ran xprop in gdb to see what may be causing the Xmir window to
clsoe and just the simple exit(0) at the end of xprop.c causes it to
close.

Based on the call to XCloseDisplay() and xprop exiting causing Xmir to
close, I'm wondering if Xmir is being too aggressive on cleaning up when
the application is done with DISPLAY Need some expert advice
here:)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1481539] [NEW] X freezes when screen enters sleep mode

2015-08-04 Thread Brian Knoll
Public bug reported:

When the system enters sleep mode, Xorg appears to freeze. When the
system wakes back up, there is just a black screen. There is no
apparent way to get the system back once this happens. Interestingly,
the system does not appear to be completely frozen, in that it is still
possible to SSH into the machine in this state. However, the local
console is completely unusable. Note that this is on a very new Intel
Broadwell-U notebook using integrated video.
