I can see much of the problem in Chromium is tooltips, which like menus steal focus in Mir but then don't return it when they close. Can't type in the editor any more. chromium-browser: Just use it for a few seconds and you can't type in the address bar any more. The problem appears to be a Mir one (mir demo servers) as the last event Xmir is receiving is: mir_surface_unfocused shown in the log as: Focus: unfocused So of course no window will receive keyboard input after that. Often when I log in or switch user unity or lightdm (I don't know enough to understand which one) will freeze on a corrupted display. The launcher icons and the launcher will be overwritten with some pseudo-random pattern. the bar across the top of the display will also be corrupted. Sometimes the display has both my desktop and the unity-login greeter mixed. I usually can't type or do alt-f2 for several seconds. At some point (usually several seconds later) the display will appear to "reset," sometimes once, sometimes several times and eventually will settle on an uncorrupted, usable screen. If I switch user 10 times this will happen on 8 of them. I'm afraid I don't have the system any longer. Also, I updated Ubuntu to its latest version to stop the flickering, so the problem has already been fixed by ubuntu. I guess it's a problem of backporting the latest fixes in Ubuntu 15.04 to 14.04.
