[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1420959] Re: xmir crashes when launching chromium

2015-09-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Confirmed even with trunk Xmir... Although Xmir doesn't crash it does
show errors with Chromium:

Focus: unfocused
chromium-browser --type=gpu-process --channel=29964.0.243176076
--v8-natives-passed-by-fd --v8-snapshot-passed-by-fd --supports-dual-gpus=false
--gpu-driver-bug-workarounds=2,15,44,56 --disable-accelerated-video-decode
--gpu-vendor-id=0x8086 --gpu-device-id=0x0412 --gpu-driver-vendor
--gpu-driver-version --v8-natives-passed-by-fd --v8-snapshot-passed-by-: Could
not find mir surface for swapping!
[DRI2] DRI2SwapBuffers: driver failed to schedule swap

Looks like maybe Chromium is confused and trying to speak native Mir and
X/GLX simultaneously..?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1497837] Re: Xmir apps lose keyboard focus

2015-09-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I can see much of the problem in Chromium is tooltips, which like menus
steal focus in Mir but then don't return it when they close. So I think
this is just a matter of mir_proving_server not being wired up to the
new WM logic yet.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1497837] [NEW] Xmir apps lose keyboard focus

2015-09-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Public bug reported:

Xmir apps lose keyboard focus, quite often.

Test cases:
gedit: Open a menu and then close it. Can't type in the editor any more.
chromium-browser: Just use it for a few seconds and you can't type in the
address bar any more.

The problem appears to be a Mir one (mir demo servers) as the last event Xmir
is receiving is:
  mir_surface_unfocused
shown in the log as:
  Focus: unfocused

So of course no window will receive keyboard input after that.

Workaround:
Alt+Tab or Alt+` a few times to regain focus.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1465822] Re: X session crashed

2015-09-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
gronki, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
However, your crash report is missing.

Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your
crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a
terminal:
cd /var/crash && sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade &&
sudo service apport start force_start=1

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in
/etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open a terminal,
navigate to your /var/crash directory and file your report with:
sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash

where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. By
default, this sends the crash to the Ubuntu Error Tracker
infrastructure, which is different than Launchpad. For more on this,
please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ErrorTracker .

However, if after doing this you would still like to have a crash report posted
to Launchpad, for example to ease triage and add others to your report, one
would need to open the following file via a terminal:
sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf

and comment out the line:
'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

by changing it to:
# 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via:
sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash

I'm closing this report since the process outlined above will deal with
this issue more efficiently. Also, please do not attach your crash
report manually to this report and reopen it. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1451245] Re: errors in work keyboard

2015-09-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
SimpleHitcher, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping
to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, this report didn't include enough
information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs
effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would
then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. The behavior you expected, and
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1466996] Re: When I plug in a display, screen freezes and distorts.

2015-09-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Conor, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As
per http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/content/cnt-dwnl/VGN-SZ4MN/list#os2
an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available
(R0112N0). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status New.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1470724] Re: Xorg freeze - Need to restart lightdm service to be able to type in my password

2015-09-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Christoffer Holmstedt, thank you for reporting this and helping make
Ubuntu better. As per
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=7343205&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4060
an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available
(1.09). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1497621] [NEW] Unity display corrupted on login or switch user

2015-09-20 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have a new install of 15.04. I am using lightdm with a unity desktop
(default). I have two users on my system. Often when I log in or
switch user unity or lightdm (I don't know enough to understand which
one) will freeze on a corrupted display. The launcher icons and the
launcher will be overwritten with some pseudo-random pattern. the bar
across the top of the display will also be corrupted. Sometimes the
display has both my desktop and the unity-login greeter mixed. I
usually can't type or do alt-f2 for several seconds. At some point
(usually several seconds later) the display will appear to "reset,"
sometimes once, sometimes several times and eventually will settle on an
uncorrupted, usable screen. If I switch user 10 times this will happen
on 8 of them.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.04
Package: lightdm 1.14.2-0ubuntu1

Xeni, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, this report didn't include enough
information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs
effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would
then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. The behavior you expected, and
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1470721] Re: Xorg package crashed or something sluggish performance

2015-09-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Joel Brian Esta, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is missing.

Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your
crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a
terminal:
cd /var/crash && sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade &&
sudo service apport start force_start=1

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1474365] Re: crash xorg

2015-09-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Trevor Reznik, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is missing.

Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your
crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a
terminal:
cd /var/crash && sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade &&
sudo service apport start force_start=1

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1475595] Re: nouveau error in dmesg + plenty of warnings

2015-09-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
crysman, to advise, hibernate is supported. For more on this, please see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelHibernate .

However, error messages in dmesg in itself does not constitute a bug, nor does
it necessitate a report. For more on this, please see via a terminal:
man dmesg

If you have an actual usability/functionality issue, please file a new
report stating it precisely.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1476702] Re: Xorg crash when using Spotify client

2015-09-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Paul Smith, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
As per https://www.asus.com/Tower-PCs/CM6870/HelpDesk_Download/ an
update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (0708).
If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1476776] Re: the system never boot

2015-09-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
yasnood, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
Could you please provide the full computer model as noted on the sticker
of the computer itself (not from the Bug Description)? If it's a custom
build, could you please provide the full motherboard model as noted on
the box or the board itself?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1481239] Re: Screen flicker in ubuntu 14.04

2015-09-20 Thread Pedro Bezunartea López
I'm afraid I don't have the system any longer. Also, I updated Ubuntu to
its latest version to stop the flickering, so the problem has already
been fixed by ubuntu. I guess it's a problem of backporting the latest
fixes in Ubuntu 15.04 to 14.04.

Thanks for your attention, I guess the issue can be closed.
