[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1512386] [NEW] 4K support not working?

2015-11-02 Thread MrMEEE
Public bug reported:

Hi guys

I have an weird issue trying to get a 27" 4K monitor to work with my
Lenovo X240...

The X240 is supposed to be able to support 4K (3820x2160), but only at
30hz...

But every time I try to switch to 4k, the screen goes black... it
doesn't not go into sleep mode, so it seems like it's receiving
something from the machine, and the xrandr info also seems correct:

All other resolutions works fine.. also 2560x1440...

I have tried to connect the monitor through the mDP directly on the
machine, and through DP and HDMI on the dock.. on HDMI the 2560x1440
resolution isn't available, but on all the 4k resolution resolves in a
black screen

Hope that someone can help...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1510970] Re: Intel driver crashes on Ubuntu 15.10

2015-11-02 Thread Johannes Merkert
Today I had a scenario where I could reproduce the Bug: I opened
LibreOffice Writer and inserted areas into the document. The first one
always worked but when I created the second area the X-server crashed.

I also noticed that apport took longer with each crash. After the third
crash I always killed apport because it prevented me for more than 30s
to log in again.

Could you give some update on the status of this bug? Is somebody from Intel
working on this?
I have to downgrade to an older Ubuntu version if this bug can't be fixed soon.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1510970] Re: Intel driver crashes on Ubuntu 15.10

2015-11-02 Thread Robert Hrovat
Disabling animations did not help me. There are less crashes but still
happens. Almost everytime when I try to reply to a mail or open calendar
event in Thunderbird. This is not happening on other machines with non-
intel graphic cards.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1512454] [NEW] Refresh change colours

2015-11-02 Thread Dominik
Public bug reported:

I had experienced few times that refreshing window causes some places to lose
right information about colour. I mean that colours change to different for
e.g. grey become yellowish, and strips are visible. Also in web browser some
letters disappear.
It is happening not often, maybe about 2/3 times per month. I am using Ubuntu
14.04, with following Hardware:
Intel core I5 540M 2.53 GHz x 2 with Intel Ironlake Mobile graphics. System Is
64 bit version. 3,7GiB Ram.
I'm using two screens with different size. First one is built-in laptop screen
with resolution 1366x768 (16:9) and second one is Hitachi 22HXJ06U with
resolution 1920x1080 (16:9). This happened to me also in Ubuntu 15.04, and
before on Ubuntu 14.10. (In all cases the same hardware and two screens). Until
now I notice this bug only when on firefox so I thought it could be something
wrong with firefox, but today I noticed this bug on Terminal Window. I cannot
really provide information how to create this bug - twice it happened on
facebook when board automatically refreshed, and today it happened on Terminal
when I clicked on firefox. I tried to repeat the problem with terminal, using
the same commands but without positive results. Bug is fixing when window /
application getting refreshed - scrolling up / down or moving window on screen
fixing it. Creating Screenshot doesn't fixing it (done by default Print Screen
with animation that everything becoming white and going to normal image)
I also checked logs (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) but I dont see any error message or
something - log finishing after screen setting up.
I attached picture with example in firefox window (screenshots was bit edited -
facebook's board, chat and chat list been deleted).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1512394] [NEW] Desktop icons are places outside visible area on a dual monitor system.

2015-11-02 Thread Maxim
Public bug reported:

Some of the desktop icons are placed outside of the visible area. It
seems as if the actual desktop area is greater than what is displayed by
the screen.

I have a dual monitor setup. The primary screen is connected to the VGA
port of my laptop. The laptop's screen is configured as secondary and is
placed on the left.

The native resolution of both screens is 1920x1080. However, since the
built in screen of my laptop is small, it is set to 1360x768. The
primary screen is set to its native resolution.

If I sort the icons by name, the are moved to the secondary screen with
the lower resolution and some of the icons are out of the visible range
so I cannot access them.

If I change the resolution of the secondary screen to its native
resolution, I do find the icons in the top corner of the desktop.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1512402] [NEW] Corrupted display of Qt4 Applications

2015-11-02 Thread Alexander Krosch
Public bug reported:

When I run Qt4 based Applications either from konsole or from Creator the
windows' content will look very disturbed, rendering the program absolutely
useless. This happens only if Android Studio is running at the same time
(Version 1.4, JDK 1.7.0_79). If I close Ansroid Studio (almost) everything is
fine again. (Well almost, as there's also a problem with Qt4 command link
buttons and HiDPI displays, but that's another story.)
The applies for file dialogs in chromium (it uses kde4 libs, I suppose?). When
AS is running, the file dialogs will be unusable, if I close it all is good.
I haven't tested it with other Java based applications yet, so it might just be
the JDK. (It's the Oracle one, I think, or whatever Google makes you download.)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1510970] Re: Intel driver crashes on Ubuntu 15.10

2015-11-02 Thread Anoop Karollil
I can reproduce this consistently by opening up a calendar event in
Thunderbird. I also could reproduce this consistently when I opened up a
chat log dialog in Pidgin - but I could work around it by disabling
animations via CompizConfigSettingsManager. @Johannes, you could try
that work around, but yes, please fix this. I think booting into a
different kernel fixes the problem, but I have things installed that
depend on the latest kernel.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1510180] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-11-02 Thread Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Johannes Neugschwentner
thx!!!

I've updated my BIOS.
So far I've had a few crashes ... but it wasn't clear if it's not due to my
new mt7601Usta patched wifi-driver ... usb wifi stick ...

If I see the patterned screen with full freeze again I'll send another bug
report ...
If not, I'll give it a few days and change the bug-report status (if I
don't forget) ...

thx, J

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1509776] Re: xubuntu 15.10 synaptics ps2 touchpad mouse cursor jumps

2015-11-02 Thread liontamer
Thank you for looking into this problem. I am sorry that the
information I have given is so limited but I ran 15.10 from a memory
stick, without installing, to check that it would work before actually
installing, and discovered the problem. I am not going to install 15.10
as it is more-or-less unusable with this problem and I do not want to
install it to get debug info and reinstall 15.04 to continue to use the
machine. I do not khow the live versions work but will the apport
command work and can I install xdiagnose, if so I will do this. 15.04
run from a usb stick does not show the same problem so it is something
that has been changed.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1510660] Re: Screen icons and text corrupted after 15.10 upgrade

2015-11-02 Thread John Deakin
Christopher,

I have tried in a number of ways to update the BIOS but failed.

The computer does not have UEFI and there is no option to use "Flash
BIOS upgrade" when using F12.

I cannot burn the iso image for FreeDOS to a memory stick (to use it to
install the BIOS update .exe file) and when I burn it to a CD and reboot
I cannot find an option for running FreeDOS without installing it on my
hard disk. In any case my BIOS only allows me to boot from a disk.

I do not have the linux competence to follow some of the other
suggestions and am running out of options. Do you know of a simple way
to achieve a BIOS update with linux?

regards,
John

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1510998] Re: Xorg crashes with segfault on 15.10

2015-11-02 Thread Dirk Seidel
Why is the importance changed from Critical to High? I am experiencing
3-5 crashes per day and am not aware of any workaround. This is more or
less an unusable system and I am seriously thinking of downgrading
again.

Johan Tol, have you tried to get a backtrace like I mentioned in #8?
That way it works without problems.
