[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1519082] [NEW] Left mouse bottom stops working
Public bug reported: At times the left mouse events stop working. After a short moment the left mouse button starts working again. I'm using a Bluetooth mouse that connects to a dongle in a usb port. I was looking at the mouse events in three different test. As it turns out the mouse events stop showing up in all of these cases. xinput --test %id% sudo cat /dev/input/mouse0 watch -d -n 0.1 cat /proc/interrupts It's hard to spot when the interrupts stop showing up. You'll need to align and overlap the terminals closely and keep clicking until it occurs. If more people can reproduce this test. Then I figure it could be a kernal bug. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1519082 Title: Left mouse bottom stops working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1519082/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1518990] [NEW] Display corruption when using some QT programs
Public bug reported: When using Virtualbox and some other QT based programs I get very strange window corruption. It looks like the screen is painted several times over eachother, and when transitioning to another sub-window the previous windows elements are still on the screen. I've filed this under X due to the errors I get in the console (and the fact it happens on multiple different programs). I've had this occur on the compiz settings manager (ccsm) and Virtualbox. Restarting the process fixes the issue, but it appears to randomly trigger and to occur from the application start. When using Virtualbox I get this error in the console: Qt WARNING: X Error: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter) 9 Major opcode: 62 (X_CopyArea) Resource id: 0x0 ✗ sudo lshw -c video *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 2 bus info: pci@:00:02.0 version: 0b width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=i915 latency=0 resources: irq:45 memory:f780-f7bf memory:e000-efff ioport:f000(size=64) Description:Ubuntu 15.10 Release:15.10 xorg: Installed: 1:7.7+7ubuntu4 Candidate: 1:7.7+7ubuntu4 Version table: *** 1:7.7+7ubuntu4 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ wily/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10 Package: xorg 1:7.7+7ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.2.0-18.22-generic 4.2.3 Uname: Linux 4.2.0-18-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.19.1-0ubuntu5 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: fsck from util-linux 2.26.2 /dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-root: clean, 509881/30203904 files, 30823982/120793088 blocks CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Mon Nov 23 13:46:53 2015 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: wily DistroVariant: ubuntu EcryptfsInUse: Yes ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0a16] (rev 0b) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:05cb] InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-11-16 (7 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Release amd64 (20151021) MachineType: Dell Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1511301] Re: Failed to upgrade fglrx from 14.502 to 15.200 on Trusty.
Hi Serenity, First, be sure the APT is updated: $ sudo apt-get update Then you can remove old fglrx by `apt-get purge`: $ sudo apt-get purge fglrx fglrx-core fglrx-amdcccle Finally, reinstall them: $ sudo apt-get install fglrx fglrx-core fglrx-amdcccle And supposedly, this should fix your upgrading problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1511301 Title: Failed to upgrade fglrx from 14.502 to 15.200 on Trusty. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1516531] Re: Fullscreen Freeze.
Alright, so it happened again. I'm sure it would have happened sooner, but I stopped myself from putting Kodi into full screen because I was scanning a drive, I pulled from another computer, for badblocks, and it happened while in the 1st stage of the 74 hour scan and I had to start over. This time, xorg DID boot me out into a non-interactive console view. I switched over to tty1 to try the apport, but apport-collect needs a gui. The thing is, while in tty1, before I logged in, it switched me back to the gui login (tty7?). I DID see a kodi entry along with xorg at the time of the crash in the journal. For the times/cases when xorg only freezes in fullscreen (though mouse still moves), what parameters should I use for apport-cli, for when I switch to tty1? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1516531 Title: Fullscreen Freeze. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1511301] Re: Failed to upgrade fglrx from 14.502 to 15.200 on Trusty.
hi kai and alberto, alberto, am i right in thinking it sounds like there is a new fix and i should try and the software updater method matthew described to see if it will sort itself. when i tried it last it just crashed. kai, and if that doesn't work then you're saying that it's safe to just purge the fglrx. that won't break it worse? (can it get worse lol) is it sudo apt-get purge fglrx? then sudo apt-get fglrx installer? is there a dash between fglrx-installer? i know such things can be important. thanks guys. indeed i do think my issue is a bit different from what little my geekling understanding allows me, but also looks like some of the ways of fixing it might be similar. i did post a separate bug when i realized that in case that allowed the unbuntu gods to help sort it. haven't been back in ubuntu in a few days. been updating/upgrading my windows partition so i have a functional operating system, even if it's not my beloved ubuntu. will wait to try out the fix till later. am geekling tech brained out right now after windows 10 upgrade. i think it might have eaten a teenie tiny bit of my soul =P -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1511301 Title: Failed to upgrade fglrx from 14.502 to 15.200 on Trusty. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1517998] Re: Crash after resume.
Boban Aleksov, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per https://www.asus.com/Notebooks/X555LA/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (503). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-503 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1517998 Title: Crash after resume. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1519029] [NEW] Lenovo T240 in Dock, bad resolution on logon and no mouse pointer
Public bug reported: Laptop works perfectly when not docked. If I boot when in the dock, the logon screen is highly corrupted. I can enter my username and password anyway and then it logs me in, I can see the screen on the external display, and everything works EXCEPT my mouse pointer is invisible! I can move the mouse around and if I get it in the right place (for example, I can get to a corner) and click it works, so the OS "knows" where the mouse pointer is but I just can't see it. If I boot up and log in with the laptop undocked, and then place in the dock, everything works perfectly. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1519045] [NEW] Xorg fails to redraw desktop correctly
Public bug reported: For the last two days, after the daily upgrades, both my almost identical machines (lenovo t410s) became partially unusable through a display corruption. Menus are not redrawn, some applications fail to display their content properly, neither mplayer nor vlc play videos (youtube, however, does). I'll attach some screenshots. I have already disabled composite display effects, to no avail. Since both machines (home, work) behave identically, and both for the last 2 days, I don't believe in a hardware error nor configuration error nor hard disk corruption. Aside of the screenshots, here is VLC started from the command line, no, there is space left on the device!!?: $ vlc media/Movies/Das_Streichquartett.avi VLC media player 2.1.6 Rincewind (revision 2.1.6-0-gea01d28) [0x1c22118] main libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1436590] Re: Intel Display i915 driver crashes, Thinkpad X1 carbon Gen 3
Same problem here. Lenovo Carbon X1 3rd Gen. After upgrading to 15.10 from 15.04, the laptop doesn't complete the boot process and crashes with the i915 message (The master control interrupt lied SDE). I cannot even provide any dmesg output because I can't get any prompt. The error comes right after "Started GNOME display manager" message. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1436590 Title: Intel Display i915 driver crashes, Thinkpad X1 carbon Gen 3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1436590/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
