[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1573959] Re: On-screen text disappears after suspend

2016-05-06 Thread Nathan Allen
I'm having a similar issue. I found that switching to a virtual terminal
and back again fixes the missing text in my case (Ctrl+Alt+F1 then
Ctrl+Alt+F7).

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1432949] Re: r300 Mesa driver not loading with KMS enabled

2016-05-06 Thread Herminio
I can verify the patch works. However there are some issues

1. I see my colors are off when I use compiz as my WM and try to rotate the
cube.

2.piglit samity tests fail with this error:
spec/!opengl 1.0/gl-1.0-readpixsanity/gl-1.0-readpixsanity: fail

3. games like alien-arean and supertuxkart crash my system when trying to
load the game.

4. I can play video in mpv using opengl but get the following error:
[vo/opengl] Could not create EGL context!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1547599] Re: legacy nvidia drivers fail to work with latest kernel

2016-05-06 Thread MensVeritas
I got some external cooling for this laptop & the problem went away.
I've run some intensive GPGPU + CPU processing for some hours with no
problems showing up. I have the 8400M GT running fine under Ubuntu
16.04. Removing myself from the "affects me" list.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1517046] Re: Unable to set 1920x1080 resolution in Ubuntu 16.04 as a VMWare Fusion guest

2016-05-06 Thread yuval
I have a similar issue with built in screen in a laptop, it has smaller
than usual pixels so the default resolution 3840x2160 (15.6", Dell
Precision M3800 PM-RD33-928) gives tiny icons and buttons and text. I
tried to change to 2048x1152 by fiddling with xrandr and by changing
text files I don't remember where, but on restart it reverted to
3840x2160.

Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.04 upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04 on a Dell Inspiron 14z, w/Intel-
ATI hybrid graphics (but DIS card is OFF through vgaswitcheroo).

Just like bug no. #1525390 [1], Chrome shows some artifacts randomly and
I have the same kernel trace but from 10 days ago (I use this system
everyday and it didn't happened since then).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 591612] Re: Xorg 1.8 and fglrx (patch request)

2016-05-06 Thread David Lee
Can someone please do something about this? I have an AMD desktop that
crossfires an A10's RadeonHD 7660D with a PCI Express 6670G. Up until
15.10 this setup works great. However I am unable to use 16.04 optimally
because the open source RADEON drivers can't do crossfire. The upcoming
AMDGPU drivers can crossfire but will only support the newer Southern
Islands chipsets (those cars that start with Rx xxx). Additionally the
RADEON drivers can't do OpenCL either. I think AMD jumped the gun and
dumped FGLRX too soon.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1432949]

2016-05-06 Thread Michel-daenzer
That piglit sanity is failing with the patch may confirm my suspicion
that something doesn't add up yet I'm afraid: Since the kernel driver
and xf86-video-ati EXA code are using the same hardware formats for
display/rendering with BE & LE, I was wondering how the patch could
result in both display and glReadPixels working correctly for winsys
buffers. Looks like indeed only display works correctly, which indicates
that the GPU is effectively writing/reading PIPE_FORMAT_x8R8G8B8_*
pixels like PIPE_FORMAT_B8G8R8x8_* (which is what the kernel driver and
EXA code are using).

The patch is correct from the LE perspective. It simply adds ARGB
support and was tested thoroughly on LE. The side effect is that BE can
use the format now too, but there may be other issues with BE.

Applied against Debian 11.1.3-1. 3-D acceleration at depth=24 works.
Power consumption running foobillardplus is very high. Colors at the

Patched on top on 79b0e13913b5189bb8629e80439fea746f99fe79 and it works!
Many thanks!

Machine used is a PowerMac G5 7,3 with an AGP Radeon 9600 Pro (Mac
edition). Running Compton composting manager (Ubuntu MATE 16.04) and it
runs without glitches so far, colours look good. Only thing I noticed is
the desktop gets unresponsive and the mouse pointer very jerky during
youtube video playback.

Will try Piglit tests the next days.

2016-05-06 Thread Christophe
EDIT : I just found that letting the screen be turned off when not
logged at all (when I boot the computer and don't log in for example)
causes no problem. The screen goes black and can be woken up by moving
the mouse or by hitting a key. The problem only appear when logged in,
whatever the user.

Ubuntu was based on Debian?
