Adding QtMir as from Qt5.5 and later, the QPA plugin can specify the

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1573470] Re: BQ M10 tablet. Libreoffice Impress presentation mode displays wrong colors

2016-06-10 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I've just about exhausted all possibilities of fixing or working around
this in Xorg/Xmir. Even when I remove all the Composite and GLX logic
that adds the incorrect xRGB visuals, we still end up with backwards
colours rendered by Mesa.

It seems quite difficult to drop the offending xrgb/argb pixel formats
from the Mesa source code, and also difficult to top the Xorg codebase
from assuming xrgb/argb is always available.

The only way forward I see right now is for us to redesign the Mir
Android platform to use ShmBuffer for software buffers. As ShmBuffer
easily supports the xrgb/argb pixel formats and then the colours will
always be correct for the legacy logic of Xorg and Mesa.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1243642] Re: .Xmodmap not automatically loaded on start

2016-06-10 Thread Uriel Tunz
@Hélio, only thing I did was upgrade to 16.04 (clean install), copy my
xkb file over and load it (xkbcomp $HOME/.xkb/xkb-map $DISPLAY). That's
it.

Well, it *does* get loaded on each boot via .bashrc (as noted in post
14) when a terminal is auto-opened (put in startup prefs) so not sure it
will survive a reboot on its own. Will check that.

But once loaded, it remains in effect after all suspends and hibernates,
same as .Xmodmap used to work. I can live with the minor inconvenience
of setting up the auto-load. Just have to remember what I did after a
year or more passes.

There is one glitch: when opening the second xterm, Unity changes the
mouse pointer to indicate activity. I think XTerm does not send the
Unity (or GNOME?) specific message that it has started, thus this
activity indication is active until a timeout expires. Adding
"StartupNotify=false" to the [Desktop Action New] section does not fix
this.

2016-06-10 Thread vak
Christopher, sorry for my misunderstanding. IIRR, it was appearing in
*each* Release since 13.10 . After certain regular software updates it
goes away usually. Sometimes it came back without and distro-upgrade,
but just after some regular update. Now it is real bad and won't go away
at all.

Can I help to debug this terrible bug?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1590677] Re: xterm unity launcher icon does not allow opening additional windows

2016-06-10 Thread Erik Auerswald
Thanks for the reply!

I have not checked how this works in Unity. I would have thought that
this is a Ubuntu resp. Unity issue, because it needs some magic to open
a second window via the launcher.

Looking at /usr/share/applications/gnome-terminal.desktop, the [Desktop
Action New] section seems to be used for this functionality. I'll look
into this.

Thanks,
Erik
