For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. Also, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible: 1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect): sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not. 3) Please mark this report Status New. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1586539] Re: Major screen flickering in Chromium and Google Chrome
** Description changed: On a fresh installation of Ubuntu 16.04 I noticed major screen flickering issues in Chromium and Google Chrome browsers. Since this never happened in Ubuntu 15.10 with exactly the same Google Chrome binary, I believe, bug is caused by something that was added/updated in 16.04. I came across some discussions where different people suggested that it is related to new X.Org version. Here's a video to show what is happening: https://youtu.be/l21WsKz3fZc?t=45s I could fix this flickering with --disable-gpu-compositing switch, but this slows down page drawing significantly so it can't be considered a workaround. There is also a Chromium bug report: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=606152, but I don't think they will fix an Ubuntu-specific bug. Update: this indeed happens only when browser window is maximized. + + WORKAROUND: Add in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf: + + Section "Device" + Identifier "Intel Graphics" + Driver "intel" + Option "AccelMethod" "uxa" + EndSection ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+13ubuntu3 Uname: Linux 4.6.0-040600-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity_support_test.0: ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sat May 28 00:01:20 2016 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: xenial DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: vboxhost, 5.0.20, 4.4.0-22-generic, x86_64: installed vboxhost, 5.0.20, 4.6.0-040600-generic, x86_64: installed EcryptfsInUse: Yes ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, if not too technical GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0a2e] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1581560] Re: system crash when attaching external display
Rob Latham, it's always best to run the latest BIOS when debugging issues as documented in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Hardware_bug_reports_.28linux_kernel.2C_xorg.2C_sound.2C_etc..29 . [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 912044] Re: scroll lock doesn't work, which affects users of badly designed backlit keyboards
I have the same problem. I'm using this keyboard http://www.pccomponentes.com/nox_krom_konker_pro_gaming.html it needs the scroll lock key to turn on the backlight, so I need to put xmodmap -e "add mod3 =Scroll_Lock" everytime I log in my session. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/912044 Title: scroll lock doesn't work, which affects users of badly designed backlit keyboards To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/912044/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
