Just a note that I still get this occasionally in Ubuntu 16.04 and
16.10, usually after moving to a new series of the nvidia driver, and my
case the problem is that nvidia overwrites the
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so and /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/libGL.so files (eg "ldd /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so|grep -i
nvidia" shows nvidia in the file).

A workaround when this happens is to install nvidia-prime and run "sudo
prime-select intel" to reset to using the intel libraries.

Rodrigo, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue, 
at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel 
available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please 
keep in mind the following:
1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the 
daily folder).
2) The release names are irrelevant.
3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was 
released upstream.
4) Install instructions are available at 
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds .

If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may:
1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there.
2) Backup, or clone the primary install.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't 
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue 
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. 
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version 
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please 
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil 
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is
the release candidate number if it exists.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically
requested to do so.

It is most helpful that after testing of the latest upstream kernel is
complete, you mark this report Status Confirmed.

Lastly, to keep this issue relevant to upstream, please continue to test
the latest mainline kernel as it becomes available.

After upgrading the BIOS as you recommended me, my hardware has broken.
I had to run the BIOS downgrade to re-boot.
The system keeps crashing (freezing), even without the use of the OS.

In the annex to the BIOS version of the screen on which it was at the
beginning.

I do not find the reason, after upgrading the BIOS, it was impossible to
enter the BIOS SETUP, or command another function!

i have attached the System info that i got from DMIDE Command,

I WOULD LIKE TO USE UBUNTU WITHOUT THAT PROBLEM BUT TWO DAYS BEFORE TODAY
THE LAPTOP DISPLAY SUDDENLY WORKED FINE AND TODAY IT HAS RESORTED TO ITS
OLD BUGGY DISPLAY.

HOPE IT HELPS TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE

ARE THERE ANY ALTERNATIVES FOR UBUNTU WITH SIMILAR UNITY DESKTOP? IT IS
SUPERB.

AS A MATTER OF FACT THIS SAME ISSUE HAPPENED IN UBUNTU 16.04 LTS ,THE
SCREEN FLICKERS EVEN WHILE INSTALLING THE LIVE ISO IMAGE SO I THINK IT IS A
HARDWARE PROBLEM BUT I WOULD BE HAPPY TO GET A FIX FOR THIS AS QUICKLY AS
POSSIBLE

kringalf, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the 
issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream 
kernel available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? 
Please keep in mind the following:
1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the 
daily folder).
2) The release names are irrelevant.
3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was 
released upstream.
4) Install instructions are available at 
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds .

If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may:
1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there.
2) Backup, or clone the primary install.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't 
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue 
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. 
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version 
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please 
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil 
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is
the release candidate number if it exists.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically
requested to do so.

It is most helpful that after testing of the latest upstream kernel is
complete, you mark this report Status Confirmed.

Lastly, to keep this issue relevant to upstream, please continue to test
the latest mainline kernel as it becomes available.

Galen Thurber, to advise, this report is only going to focus on your one
hardware configuration noted as per apport-collect. For other hardware,
please file a new report, one per hardware setup.

With this in mind, as per Nvidia's website, you should be using driver
304, which supports up to xorg-server 1.18 (Trusty has 1.15).

Hence, could you please clarify?

As soon as I plugin the Jabra EVOLVE Headset the mouse pointer is
somehow "captured" by the last active window. I can switch windows via
alt-tab but left clicks in the new window still won't work, they will
only work in the "old" window.

WORKAROUND: Add 50-jabra.conf file in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d with the 
following:

In the previous LTS version (14.04) this issue didn't occur.
I switched to Ubuntu GNOME because of this issue, the unlock screen works 
correctly now. I hope this gives you more information for diagnosing the
