[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1625154] [NEW] [Dell XPS 13 9343] Sceen periodically scrambles then returns to normal
Public bug reported: Since upgrading to yakkety on this machine I see frequent instances of the screen "scrambling," for lack of a better work. What I mean is that for a split second things appear at the wrong location on the screeen, as though the video has lost sync temporarily. Then it returns to normal. It happens frequently but not on a regular interval - I'd estimate anywhere between 5 and 30 seconds between occurrences in general. I'm running a 4.8 kernel from the canonical-kernel-team ppa right now, but I don't think this is a kernel problem, or at least not wholly a kernel problem, because it also happens with 4.4 kernels (though it seems less frequent with 4.4). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1625119] [NEW] Nvidia settings can't be saved
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 16.04 suggest proprietary Nvidia drivers when a Nvidia GPU is present. The settings in the nvidia-settings tool cannot be saved, however, without starting the tool as root and doing all kinds of workarounds which is impossible to do for the average user. Do you really expect users to reconfigure their displays after every login? Unless you can fix this, the Nvidia driver recommendation should simply be removed. Delivering such a horrible experience to millions of users seems like a bad joke and the persons responsible should feel really bad about this. Ubuntu has no future anywhere with such usability issues. ** Affects: nvidia-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-settings in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1625119 Title: Nvidia settings can't be saved To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-settings/+bug/1625119/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
