[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1641017] Re: Mesa 12.0.5 - multiple important fixes, stable branch
zesty has 12.0.4, and 13.0.2 in proposed, closing ** Summary changed: - Mesa 12.0.4 - multiple important fixes, stable branch + Mesa 12.0.5 - multiple important fixes, stable branch ** Description changed: [Impact] - Mesa 12.0.4 is now available as a point release in the stable branch. Mesa has MRE for these. + Mesa 12.0.5 is now available as a point release in the stable branch. Mesa has MRE for these. The release contains multiple fixes amongst which: The nouveau vdpau driver performance has been restored. The wayland-egl module no longer crashes if the user calls eglDestroySurface and wl_egl_window_destroy in the "wrong" order. libEGL correctly advertises the EGL platforms available. Multiple fd leaks were addressed, which could prevent rmmod of devices such as the DisplayLink drivers. Radeonsi has gained noticeable performance by disabling ReZ. Interop between third party OpenCL implementations and mesa's libGL/libEGL is back online... and many more. Full changelog: https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2016-November/135027.html I am particularly interested in the RadeonSI performance boost: https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2016-October/131759.html In real-world tests the boost is about 20% (Yay!) : http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Mesa-Post-ReZ-Change-Benchmarks [Test case] There's only a modest number of changes to the drivers, the performance boost for Radeon is result of one fix for the shaders. + This release will be tested by the certification team on a set of + machines, they will post the results here when done. + [Regression potential] The release consists of cherry-picks from master, specifically selected as bugfixes. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1650381] [NEW] Slow scrolling in Firefox and slow Youtube-playback with Radeon RV730
Public bug reported: I first discovered this problem in Mint 18.1 Cinnamon (64-bit) and Mint 18 XFCE (64-bit). I enabled Glamor (and thus, it seemed DRI3) and tried turning off smooth scrolling and/or hardware support in Firefox, but to no great avail. Interestingly, scrolling worked nice and smooth with a Geforce FX5200, 128MiB - an older, inferior card running on nouveau. I installed Ubuntu 16.10 to try with the latest software and drivers..and the problem still remains. Scrolling is stuttering badly if scrolling in a full screen. Scrolling the Facebook feed the problem is less, but noticeble. Youtube-videos play abhorrently slow. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1650301] [NEW] xdm xdmcp support broken after recent update
Public bug reported: The venerable xdm provides support for xdmcp as needed for remote logins and Xvnc. It had been working fine until recently when an update seemed to have broken xdm support for xdmcp. Note that xdm itself does not appear to have been updated in years. xdm is especially needed when the preferred display manager for local logins does not support xdmcp. The problem is clear enough using the output from netstat -tl. Normally, xdm should be listening on the IPv6 port 177/xdmcp. Instead it seems to be listening on a random port which changes each time it is invoked. Telneting to this port with xdm in debug mode confirms that this is the xdmcp port. ** Affects: xdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1650301 Title: xdm xdmcp support broken after recent update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xdm/+bug/1650301/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1590590] Re: Touchpad not recognized on Dell Latitude E7470 Ultrabook
ok, after further googling it turned out these up-right and bottom-right top shortcuts for middle and right button are default in Ubuntu (and not specific of our trackpad). So the new driver is working as expected. For those finding very annoying the accidental middle button click when tapping the up-right part of the trackpad there is a workaround to disable it using the synclient command: synclient RTCornerButton=0 ! disable up-right middle click synclient RBCornerButton=0 ! disable bottom-right right click You can also put the above commands in the "startup applications preferences" control panel to make them persistent after a reboot -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1590590 Title: Touchpad not recognized on Dell Latitude E7470 Ultrabook To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1590590/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
