[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1654632] [NEW] xrandr negative brightness has wrong color space range

2017-01-06 Thread Sneetsher
Public bug reported:

1) $ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
Release:16.04

2)$ apt-cache policy x11-xserver-utils
x11-xserver-utils:
  Installed: 7.7+7

  Version table:
 *** 7.7+7 500

100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) With

`xrandr --output VGA-0 --brightness -0.5`

The B/W range should be #000 to around #777, like with:

`xrandr --output VGA-0 --brightness 0.5`

4) In stead, I get:

The B/W range is #777 to around #FFF. The white that should be after
inversion black is is 50% gray.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1654627] [NEW] Windows Rearrange and Resize without User Interactions

2017-01-06 Thread bob
Public bug reported:

!What I expected to happen

Windows stay in the same place with the same dimensions

!What happenes (happens) instead

Open windows will be re-arranged. Some will be resized, others maximized
and some hidden. If workspaces are enabled, some windows will be moved
to a different workspace.

Some of the ways to reproduce this:
* with workspaces enabled, merely switching workspaces (often but not always)
* with or without workspaces enabled, if the machine goes to sleep/suspend

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
Release:16.04

Problem reproduced on multiple machines less than a year old:
* System76 Lemur with external Dell monitor +
* 2016 HP Spectre x360 with a standard install of Ubuntu) with no external
display

Frequency: very (essentially any time I'm away from a machine for more
than about ten minutes).

!Attempted Solutions

* Disable all hot corners/edges, etc. on both machines
* turned off the Lemur's internal display (the psuedo disable in System
Settings > Display).
* turned off workspaces on Lemur

The only noticable difference was that it reduced the places I had to
hunt for the windows I need to move and resize to begin work again.

e.g. put my Development environment back in working order.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1654582] [NEW] xserver/compiz hangs frequently after resuming from the screensaver

2017-01-06 Thread Grzegorz Daniluk
Public bug reported:

Like in the title: xserver/compiz hangs frequently after resuming from
the screensaver

I can switch to terminal with ctrl+alt+f1 and reboot the system. So only
xserver is frozen. E.g. Spotify desktop client still plays the music
however UI is frozen.

I found similar bug here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
