Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1305494] Re: noticeable touchpad lag that feels like a low-pass for movements

2017-01-09 Thread Alonso Gutierrez
Hi Christopher,

I actually sorta solved this by going to xinput and setting the property
"device acceleration profile" to 0.

Alonso Gutierrez (alonsougc), it will help immensely if you filed a new report
with Ubuntu by ensuring you have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you
click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information running the
following from a terminal:
ubuntu-bug xorg

Also, please feel free to subscribe me to it.

A clean install of Ubuntu 16.04 solved the problem. Not the ideal
solution, hopefully the reason will be unearthed and published soon.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1653295] Re: [Acer Chromebook 11 C730] Chromium and Chrome flickering

2017-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Jacob Doherty, to clarify,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1653295/comments/3
 :
>"1. Unfortunately I'm not able to install anything other than a stable LTS on
>the hardware that exhibits the issue."

Could you please advise to what technical issue prevents one from
installing something else specifically?

To advise, not testing the latest release of Ubuntu largely makes this
report a show stopper for developers to address this.

Despite this, one may test to this in a live environment via
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1357804] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 does not support 2560x1080 resolution.

2017-01-09 Thread Simon Brodeur
I have an external LG ultrawide monitor (21:9 ratio) connected through HDMI on
my laptop with integrated Intel graphics. I adapted a script from this thread
to support for 2560x1080 (60Hz) resolution:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/727753/how-do-i-configure-ubuntu-for-a-219-screen

It would be useful if the resolution was automatically supported. It
works perfectly in Debian Jessie (Gnome).

--

#!/bin/bash

# Setup external monitor resolution at 2560x1080 (60Hz), if connected
RESOLUTION="2560 1080 60"
OUTPUT="HDMI-1"

CONNECTED=$(xrandr --current | grep -i $OUTPUT | cut -f2 -d' ')
if [ "$CONNECTED" = "connected" ]; then
MODELINE=$(cvt $RESOLUTION | cut -f2 -d$'\n')
MODEDATA=$(echo $MODELINE | cut -f 3- -d' ')
MODENAME=$(echo $MODELINE | cut -f2 -d' ')

echo "Adding mode - " $MODENAME $MODEDATA
xrandr --newmode $MODENAME $MODEDATA
xrandr --addmode $OUTPUT $MODENAME
xrandr --output $OUTPUT --mode $MODENAME
else
echo "Monitor is not detected"

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1622955] Re: VLC automatic video output malfunctions on Intel HD Graphics 520 (Skylake)

2017-01-09 Thread Alexey
After some update or some package installation the problem is fixed now.
Simultaneously, a similar problem with Skype video is fixed too.

I do not know what exactly fixed the problem.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1643789] Re: Backport packages for 16.04.2 lts-hwe stack

2017-01-09 Thread Timo Aaltonen

** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Invalid

** Description changed:

  [Impact]
  We need a few packages backported to xenial for lts-hwe X stack.

+ Since the xserver is already at 1.18.4, the full stack from 16.10 will
+ not be backported as a renamed set of packages. Instead, only the
+ drivers with bugfix releases will be backported, plus the libraries and
+ mesa that complement the set.
+
  [Test case]

- libdrm, mesa: run a desktop session, see that things still work
+ Run a desktop session, see that things still work

  [Regression potential]

  libdrm:
  slim to none, changes from 2.4.67..2.4.70:
  - amdgpu: spelling fixes
  - ati: typo-/make check fixes
  - intel: pci-id changes, already SRU'd
  - nouveau: only some android makefile diff
  - core: drmGetDevice fixes for multi-gpu

  mesa:
  included here just to keep the necessary backport bits in the same bug, the
actual update testing will be handled on bug #1641017. That said:
  - Intel validates new upstream releases on all their hw
  - AMD probably does the same, though it's unverified
  - this release was already tested by cert team on a handful of intel/amd
machines
