[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1560498] Re: Unity8 using vmwgfx_dri.so crashed in mir::graphics::nested::detail::DisplayBuffer::make_current() -> eglMakeCurrent() -> ... -> dri2_image_get_buffers() [platform_mi

2017-01-16 Thread Daniel van Vugt
No it doesn't seem to be the same issue. Thanks for looking though -- I
recall we copied the hack into another project but I haven't yet found
where that was.

Although removing the original hack from the Mir examples is trivial, I
suspect that's not actually the problem here because mir-demos should
not crash Unity8 (?). The actual problem I suspect is our KMS/nested
platform code which also hard codes pixel formats and those will often
be wrong (xrgb when it's really argb). That part is probably non-trivial
to fix.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1474563] Re: 1:15/1:16 fails to report support for nvidia 304 have terminated

2017-01-16 Thread Galen Thurber
I have an archived version of your comment.
I am using driver version 304 under Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS (xubuntu)
This computer (called west) was a near twin of my other desktop at another
residence.
This computer has had a motherboard CPU and RAM update.
both computers use the NV7900 video card. I have switched card between machine
and neither machine combination will configure the driver correctly.
I'll stick to this current computer for reports

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 378958] Re: xorg 100% cpu when scrolling in rdesktop

2017-01-16 Thread Péter
What do you mean by saying "it doesn't affect you"? (It definitely
affect me.)

What are you saying? Posting here is completely useless? (Why is not it
indicated, with VERY bold letters?) No one will even forward my report?

What should I do exactly? (Just "ubuntu-bug xorg"? Without, for example
launching rdesktop? On what platform? Which live-usb?) (All my sensitive
data, without review possibility, will be made public?..)

The https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs says that I should use
Launchpad.net. (This site.)
And "if you find an already reported bug that is exactly like the problem you
have, please feel free to add this information to the existing report". I did
that.

I *think* it looks like there's something similar going on inside QtMir
(http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~mir-
team/qtmir/trunk/view/head:/src/platforms/mirserver/screen.cpp#L60):

enum QImage::Format qImageFormatFromMirPixelFormat(MirPixelFormat
mirPixelFormat) {
switch (mirPixelFormat) {
case mir_pixel_format_abgr_:
if (isLittleEndian()) {
// 0xRR,0xGG,0xBB,0xAA
return QImage::Format_RGBA;
} else {
// 0xAA,0xBB,0xGG,0xRR
qFatal("[mirserver QPA] "
   "Qt doesn't support mir_pixel_format_abgr_ in a big
endian architecture");
}
break;
case mir_pixel_format_xbgr_:
if (isLittleEndian()) {
// 0xRR,0xGG,0xBB,0xXX
return QImage::Format_RGBX;
} else {
// 0xXX,0xBB,0xGG,0xRR
qFatal("[mirserver QPA] "
   "Qt doesn't support mir_pixel_format_xbgr_ in a big
endian architecture");
}
break;
break;
case mir_pixel_format_argb_:
// 0xAARRGGBB
return QImage::Format_ARGB32;
break;
case mir_pixel_format_xrgb_:
// 0xffRRGGBB
return QImage::Format_RGB32;
break;
case mir_pixel_format_bgr_888:
qFatal("[mirserver QPA] Qt doesn't support mir_pixel_format_bgr_888");
break;
default:
qFatal("[mirserver QPA] Unknown mir pixel format");
break;
}
return QImage::Format_Invalid;

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1597437] Re: X with nouveau driver, 2 nvidia cards, 4 monitors, does not use all monitors

2017-01-16 Thread Oleg Moiseichuk
Martin, you've done everything well. Indeed, additional packages are needed for
the successful compilation. They can be installed by the command 'sudo apt-get
build-dep package_name' (there can be hefty pack, that's why I'm usually using
virtual machine for the compilation and revert it to the last snapshot
afterwards).
The size of the resulting library can be decreased by setting specific compiler
options. If you examine Makefile which was created after './configure' has
finished its work, you'll find CFLAGS string in it containing -g option (the
level of debugging information) and -O2 option (optimization level). Disabling
debugging information affects size of the resulting file but isn't advised
(this may cause undesired results). Increasing optimization level will reduce
the compiled file size (higher levels of optimisation also may cause undesired
code behavior). Better leave it as it is. Those who perform packaging are
better aware how this specific package should be compiled to ensure its minimal
size for the distribution.
