[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1590590] Re: Touchpad not recognized on Dell Latitude E7470 Ultrabook

2017-03-01 Thread Khamidulla Inoyatov
I really disappointed by this changes in kernel 4.4.0-64. Before I had
working touchpad(tap as click, two finger scrolling) with stick which
was worked out off box. Thing is it is only possible to change using
Unity Tweak Tool. But now it is completle useless. I disable touchpad
permanantly for time beeing. Because palm rejection is completely
disaster, it recognize mypalms as two fingre touches. Before everything
worked with evdev. Currently evdev driver cannot handle touchpad it just
recognize taps and touchpad button clicks on my Latitude e7470. :( I
hope somebody can publish working configuration or some patch that help
me revert back to old "ImPS/2 BYD TouchPad" or make evdev working again.

Hmm, that's interesting. Using integrated Intel graphics (DisplayPort) I
get subpixel order "unknown" but if I use a radeon card (DVI) on the

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1573959] Re: On-screen text disappears after suspend

2017-03-01 Thread Dave Long
I was affected by this issue in 16.04 with kernel 4.4 but it seems to
have gone away since upgrading to 4.8; it's hard to tell because it is
apparently impossible to reproduce on demand, and only happened maybe 1
in 10 times for me after resuming from suspend.

@kyordhel: I am not sure that specific package is enough to fully
install kernel 4.8; you should try installing the linux-generic-
hwe-16.04 package which will give you the latest 4.8 kernel plus all
necessary dependencies - for example if you did not install linux-image-
extra-4.8.0-29-generic you may well be missing some modules that are
required for decent desktop performance.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1573959] Re: On-screen text disappears after suspend

2017-03-01 Thread Mauricio Matamoros
Just for the record

My Dell Latitude E7440 (Intel graphics card only) experiences the same
problem with Xubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus (issue was not present in
Xubuntu 12.04, and I didn't tried intermediate versions) I tried several
workarounds but none seems to work this far.

I updated to Kernell 4.8.0-29-generic with

# apt-get install linux-image-4.8.0-29-generic

That was the latest update available in the repo at the date. It
installed successfully. After reboot the Xorg process was using >80% CPU
and the computer was even more sluggish than a Windows Vista running in
an Intel 80386 (5 seconds delay for a typed char to appear on screen in
console).

There is no need to be an Ubuntu expert to conclude that just updating
the Kernel is not enough to solve the problem. Maybe I'm missing some
extra configuration or also the X-Server/lightdm daemon must be updated
accordingly. Also I'm differentiating Xubuntu from legacy Ubuntu because
it affects Xfce and Unity.

Cheers!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1458220] Re: [master] system keyboard layout not honored

2017-03-01 Thread Richard Stevens
Not sure if it helps but since I have created this bug quite some time
ago I have discovered a few things. For me at least the bug seems to be
somehow connected to Logitech wireless keyboards. If I boot my system
with a wired Cherry keyboard, the keyboard configuration is honored and
everything works as expected. If I connect the logitech wireless
keyboard, it's not. This is reproducible. My Logitech Keyboard is a K520
with a Unifying receiver.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1665802] Re: [regression] mir_demo_client_eglplasma results in 100% cpu and hardly any updates in dragonboard

2017-03-01 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Alberto,

Please try this experiment: lp:~vanvugt/mir/gpu-load-balance
It improves the situation on radeon quite a lot (from below 0.1FPS to 20-40FPS).
