[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1707691] Re: libxfont1-dev is missing fontutil.h
Brian, thanks for the steps. I tried adding the fontutil.h, but i still get ABI conflicts when using: johnar@nettools1-co1:~$ sudo dpkg -l | grep -e libxfont -e xserver-xorg-dev ii libxfont-dev 1:2.0.1-3~ubuntu16.04.1 amd64X11 font rasterisation library (development headers) ii libxfont1:amd64 1:1.5.1-1ubuntu0.16.04.1 amd64X11 font rasterisation library ii libxfont2:amd64 1:2.0.1-3~ubuntu16.04.1 amd64X11 font rasterisation library ii xserver-xorg-dev 2:1.18.4-0ubuntu0.3 amd64Xorg X server - development files and I can't install libxfont1-dev with xserver-xorg-dev since xserver-xorg-dev requires libxfont-dev (conflict). Trying xserver-xorg-dev-hwe-16.04 & libxfont-dev results in ABI conflicts too. I'm stuck. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libxfont in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1707691 Title: libxfont1-dev is missing fontutil.h To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libxfont/+bug/1707691/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1707691] Re: libxfont1-dev is missing fontutil.h
@John Arnold There is a really simple workaround till this is fixed. This worked for me and let me compile xorgxrdp. Not sure what your use case is but... step 1 *$ sudo touch /usr/include/X11/fonts/fontutil.h* This file is owned by *root:root*, with mode *0o644*. Then edit that file and put the following contents into it: #ifndef _FONTUTIL_H_#define _FONTUTIL_H_ #include extern int FontCouldBeTerminal(FontInfoPtr);extern int CheckFSFormat(fsBitmapFormat, fsBitmapFormatMask, int *, int *, int *, int *, int *);extern void FontComputeInfoAccelerators(FontInfoPtr); extern void GetGlyphs ( FontPtr font, unsigned long count, unsigned char *chars, FontEncoding fontEncoding, unsigned long *glyphcount, CharInfoPtr *glyphs );extern void QueryGlyphExtents ( FontPtr pFont, CharInfoPtr *charinfo, unsigned long count, ExtentInfoRec *info );extern Bool QueryTextExtents ( FontPtr pFont, unsigned long count, unsigned char *chars, ExtentInfoRec *info );extern Bool ParseGlyphCachingMode ( char *str );extern void InitGlyphCaching ( void );extern void SetGlyphCachingMode ( int newmode );extern int add_range ( fsRange *newrange, int *nranges, fsRange **range, Bool charset_subset ); #endif /* _FONTUTIL_H_ */ = = = = = = = = = = = Save the file and then do your compile/make etc and it should succeed. Again, this is just a workaround till the bug gets fixed but it works for me. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1709667] [NEW] Regression - Loss of hiDPI configuration settings
Public bug reported: When upgrading from ubuntu 17.04 to 17.10 (obviously new window manager) ... there is no longer the ability to configure the HiDPI scaling within the window manager. This may be an intentional regression or simply something that got passed by. But I find this configuration option to be very useful when working on a Lenovo P70 w/ 17" 4k monitor (which neds 2x DPI scaling) and also when switching back to my multiple-monitor configuration (which doesn't need any scaling). This is a piece of functionality I use on a regular basis that is now lost. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1553328] Re: Mir/Unity8/USC crashes/freezes on nouveau (nv50) in pushbuf_kref() especially with multiple monitors, webbrowser-app or system settings
I don't think the problem description is clear that both the Mir and Unity8 compositors are affected. (It can be read as applying to the stack including Unity8.) [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1698287] Re: VA-API fails to initialize in a Gnome Shell Wayland session
Update: * totem is fixed by the gst-plugins-bad fix released today. * mpv is fixed by the patch proposed in bug 1708102. * chromium needs to either be ported to native Wayland, or for libva to be enhanced with DRI3 support. There are no workarounds for Chromium other than to avoid Wayland and use Xorg sessions. * gst-play-1.0 needs an enhancement to mutter linked above, but the workaround mentioned above is also simple. ** Changed in: mutter (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium => Low ** Changed in: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** No longer affects: totem (Ubuntu) ** No longer affects: intel-vaapi-driver (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to intel-vaapi-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1698287 Title: VA-API fails to initialize in a Gnome Shell Wayland session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libva/+bug/1698287/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1553328] Re: Mir/Unity8/USC crashes/freezes on nouveau (nv50) in pushbuf_kref() especially with multiple monitors, webbrowser-app or system settings
Well, yes. The problem description before that covers the fact that Mir's multi-threaded compositor manifests the problem (assuming you have multiple monitors). And comment #20 states that avoiding multiple threads (a single headed or cloned config) avoids the instability. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1553328 Title: Mir/Unity8/USC crashes/freezes on nouveau (nv50) in pushbuf_kref() especially with multiple monitors, webbrowser-app or system settings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1553328/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
