[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1573755] Re: Compose and dead keys stopped working with XIM after upgrade to 16.04

2017-10-25 Thread Josh Nightingale
Also affects me on Lubuntu 16.04.

Installing IBus (sudo apt ibus) and using Preferences > Language Support
to change the Keyboard input method system to IBus, followed by a system
reboot, has fixed the issue (compose:ralt in Keyboard Layout Handler now
functions as expected).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1727541] [NEW] After suspend, three fingers needed for two-finger scroll

2017-10-25 Thread Max Marrone
Public bug reported:

I enabled two-finger scroll for my touchpad in Settings. Initially, it
worked fine. However, after closing the laptop lid and suspending the
computer, three fingers are needed to scroll. Two fingers just moves
the pointer, as with one finger. Toggling the setting does not help,
nor does logging out and logging back in. Restarting does fix it -
until the computer suspends again.

This is a ThinkPad T440s running Ubuntu 17.10 after upgrading from
17.04. I'm using Wayland with libinput 1.8.2-1ubuntu2. libinput is my
best guess for where the bug lies, but really I have no idea.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1724933] Re: I can't adjust display brightness

2017-10-25 Thread Neil Woolford
This appears to be quite an old issue with Optimus graphics. For me the
workaround was to pass specific kernel parameters at boot time to inhibit acpi
control of the backlight but allow intel_backlight control
I followed the instructions at
https://nisheetlall.wordpress.com/2016/07/12/solved-brightness-fix-in-linux-for-optimus-laptops/
which worked first time for me. Your mileage may of course vary - it happens
that I have exactly the same Lenovo Z570 laptop as the author of those
instructions.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1543192] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort() ["no screens found"]

2017-10-25 Thread kerryland
Happened to me in 17.10. Like @fcole90 seemed to happen after unlocking
my session after unsuspending my machine in the morning. The unlocking
itself seemed to be stuck displaying some message about letting me
continue in a few moments, but it never did. I used ctrl-alt-f6 then
crtl-alt-f7 to 'wake it up', and that causes an unlock dialog to finally
appear.

Apologies for the vagueness of this!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1727356] Re: Wayland does not start up

2017-10-25 Thread Traumflug
> It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source
package

See, Mr. Bot, if I'd knew the package, I'd report the bug not here, but
upstream.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1574667] Re: Mouse pointer occasionally jumps to the bottom-left corner

2017-10-25 Thread Agelos Pikoulas
I had the same problem with a Dell Inspiron 7720 and a Lenovo 710S (both
booting the same external SSD with Kubuntu 16.04) - so annoying! It was
solved with #32, so easily! Many kudos!

I just can't believe this solution is yet to be included in all distros
if it works so well! Stupid bugs like this give Linux a bad name for no
good reason!

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1726180] Re: Unable to upgrade to artful with nvidia-libopencl1-304 and virt-viewer installed

2017-10-25 Thread Chris Johnson
The summary to this is incorrect or incomplete.

The issue for me was that gstreamer was failing the upgrade. Once I purged
that from the system it was able to do-release-upgrade. Nvidia might have
been an issue but it was the attempt after apt purge gstreamer* that worked

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1727401] [NEW] Corruption on windowed 3D apps running on dGPU (Intel/AMD)

2017-10-25 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

Corruption is seen on windowed 3D apps running on dGPU

[Test case]

Get a certain Intel/AMD hybrid machine, run 'DRI_PRIME=1 glxgears', see
how the window has corrupted gfx.

The fix is to patch Intel i965_dri driver.

[Regression potential]

There could be a slight loss of performance, but corruption free
behaviour.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1727363] [NEW] Wayland dock "crash" after thumb (horizontal) scroll

2017-10-25 Thread Mirko
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 17.10 with 3 monitors (I don't know if this is relevant)
I don't know if this is the right place to leave this issue.
The problem is very simple to reproduce if you have a Logitech MX Master mouse:
if you make a horizontal scroll through the "thumb scroll wheel", the icons on
the wayland dock will disappear. To display them again, you need to restart the
session.
If you tell me where I can pick a log, I'll be happy to provide it.

Sorry for my english.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1686081] Re: If -synaptics is installed, GNOME Mouse & Touchpad Settings doesn't work

2017-10-25 Thread Consumology
After upgrading my laptop to 17.10 I had right click functionality on my
touchpad. Then it was gone, some other people also reported this on
askubuntu but I could not find a related bug. After finding this bug I
installed xserver-xorg-input-synaptics and right click on my touchpad is
back. So the disappearing right click functionality is a problem in
libinput?

The 'lowlatency' kernel was installed during the upgrade. I never used
it before. As I know it's a realtime-kernel and there is no need for it
on a desktop pc.
