[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1754177] Re: [bionic] xserver / startx crashes with Composite Disabled in xorg.conf
Another interesting thing with this xserver-xorg-core is that it ignores Option "AIGLX" "Off" in the ServerFlags section and initializes AIGLX. This also hasn't happened before bionic. And the crashing (see the Xorg.0.log in my previous post) seems to happen right where normally some AIGLX initialization is logged. Here's a Xorg.0.log with Composite *not* disabled, but trying to disable AIGLX. Seems like it gets ignored and the crash with trying to startx with Composite Disable happens right before the following: [87.708] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_MESA_copy_sub_buffer [87.708] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_ARB_create_context [87.708] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_ARB_create_context_profile [87.708] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_EXT_create_context_es{,2}_profile [87.708] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_INTEL_swap_event [87.708] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_SGI_swap_control [87.708] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_EXT_framebuffer_sRGB [87.708] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_ARB_fbconfig_float [87.708] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_EXT_fbconfig_packed_float [87.708] (II) AIGLX: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap backed by buffer objects [87.708] (II) AIGLX: Loaded and initialized i965 My xorg.conf: Section "ServerFlags" Option "AIGLX" "off" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Intel GMA 450" Driver "intel" EndSection Section "Extensions" # Option "Composite" "0" EndSection ** Attachment added: "Full Xorg.0.log when starting normally" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1754177/+attachment/5072490/+files/Xorg.0.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754177 Title: [bionic] xserver / startx crashes with Composite Disabled in xorg.conf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1754177/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1753884] Re: session logout after suspend
Christopher, thanks for responding so quickly! It took me a while to download the newest ISO. I've been able to narrow it down a bit more as well: the log out only happens if I have my second monitor plugged in. Sometimes (but not always) the second monitor will flash the "logged out" screen for a second or two before going dim. If I unplug the second monitor and close the lid of my computer I log in and it's still the same session. I have "Suspend even if external monitor is plugged in" toggled in Tweak Tools. 1) No, my session is not logged out if I suspend via the GUI with the lid open. 2) There are! Is it safe to upload that file? I can do so. 3) I'm fairly sure it's happened since I initially installed 16.04 4) With the live USB I don't think I can set up a user account that will get logged out? When I close the lid of my laptop without the external monitor plugged in there is no log in screen and I just see the desktop (even when I toggle that the user is not logged in automatically). With the external monitor plugged in the desktop just switches. I couldn't find a toggle for the "Suspend even if external monitor is plugged in" option. I'm happy to actually try upgrading my machine to 18.04 or 17.10, but that would lose you your test scenario if it ends up working? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1753884 Title: session logout after suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1753884/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1562219] Re: Unprivileged xinit wont start in unallocated vt
Update to #30 Upon further investigation On 14.04, the files in /usr/bin are binaries. -X is a suid wrapper binary -Xorg is the actual binary On 16.04, they are scripts. -X is a link to Xorg -Xorg is a script, calling the actual executables in /usr/lib/xorg/. It seems the Xorg script in /usr/bin should check if the binary wrapper "Xorg.wrap" is present in /usr/lib/xorg. If it is, act as a suid wrapper and use /etc/X11/Xwrapper.config as it's config file(according to the man page for Xorg.warp), otherwise exec /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg directly. So it seems the problem is that the legacy package is not installing the Xorg.wrap binary (perhaps in only some cases???) as many users report editing Xwrapper.config has no effect. Also, dpkg -S Xorg.wrap shows no matches suggesting this may be an oversight? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xinit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1562219 Title: Unprivileged xinit wont start in unallocated vt To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xinit/+bug/1562219/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1683383] Re: Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts (reopen)
I attached patch from ArchLinux AUR (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages /xorg-server-bug865/, https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree /freedesktop-bug-865.patch?h=xorg-server-bug865 ). This patch is stable and reliable. ArchLinux users are happy with it. It fixes current bug on Ubuntu Bionic Beaver 18.04 LTS. I have tested it withkeyboard layout switcher on GNOME (DESKTOP_SESSION="ubuntu") and MATE desktop (DESKTOP_SESSION="mate"). Please kindly review it and consider applying it before official final release of 18.04 LTS. I'm ready to test proposed packages which (I hope) you would create. As the result Ubuntu users will be as happy as ArchLinux's users. ** Patch added: "Patch for Bionic Beaver 18.04 LTS, it fixes the problem" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1683383/+attachment/5072290/+files/freedesktop-bug-865.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1683383 Title: Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts (reopen) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/1683383/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1753884] Re: session logout after suspend
Simon, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. 1) To clarify, if you keep the lid open, and suspend via the GUI, is your session logged out after resume from suspend? 2) After the session logout, are there crash files in /var/crash? 3) Is this issue something that started to happen after an update? 4) To see if this is already resolved in Ubuntu, could you please test http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ and advise to the results? ** Description changed: - This is a new bug report for - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/362075 - - I am running Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS 64-bit + gnome, the standard - installation as downloaded from the Ubuntu website, on a Lenovo ThinkPad - T440s. - When I close the lid of my laptop, my session gets logged out, where I would expect the lock screen simply to come up. - - The workaround suggested in the original bug report (which was for - kubuntu 9.04) suggests to disable the lock screen on resume option, but - I can't find this option on 16.04. - - It's also not a super desirable work-around. I want to still have to log - in if I close the lid of my laptop. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1754052] [NEW] Dell Latitude 7480 press shift keys triggers random mouseclick when `Tap to click` enabled on touchpad.
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 16.04.3 and 17.10.1 holding down either shift key on a Dell Latitude 7480 causes random mouse clicks to occur without being nowhere near the touchpad with palms. No external mouse/keyboard connected. Disabling `Tap to click` in `Mouse & Touchpad` settings makes the problem go away. The problem is not present in 14.04.5, whether installed or live CD. How to reproduce: 1. On a Dell Latitude 7480 live boot (or install) one of the following images: - ubuntu-16.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso - ubuntu-17.10.1-desktop-amd64.iso 2. Open `Mouse & Touchpad` and make sure `Tap to click` is enabled. 3. Click `Test Your Settings` and make sure window has focus. 4. Hold down either shift key and after a few seconds single/double clicks start registering.
