[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1763273] Re: kernel panic in Radeon driver while screen blank
After several weekends of testing, I believe I can report with high confidence that the kernel update to 4.17-rc2 fixes the second of the two problems; specifically, we no longer see kernel crashes after using Alt-SysRq-k to recover from frozen/hanging blank screens. However, the unable-to-unblank problem remains; after normal screen blanking, about 50% of the time we are unable to recover by moving the cursor or typing a key. Instead, only Alt-SysRq-k allows us to recover back to a guest login screen. There doesn't seem to be much in the system logs that I can find, except possibly this: May 20 20:41:04 Comprm8 gnome-session[7919]: gnome-session-binary[7919]: GLib-GIO-CRITICAL: g_dbus_connection_call_internal: assertion 'object_path != NULL && g_variant_is_object_path (object_path)' failed May 20 20:41:04 Comprm8 gnome-session-binary[7919]: GLib-GIO-CRITICAL: g_dbus_connection_call_internal: assertion 'object_path != NULL && g_variant_is_object_path (object_path)' failed Some seemingly similar bug reports from out in the wild: https://askubuntu.com/questions/795014/ubuntu-16-04-occasionally-hangs-with-screen-off-after-switching-ttys-or-turning https://askubuntu.com/questions/949764/ubuntu-hangs-when-unlocking-screen Can you recommend any approaches to help debug the root cause of this problem, presumably in X and/or the radeon driver? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1763273 Title: kernel panic in Radeon driver while screen blank To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1763273/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1772791] [NEW] Lock Screen displayed password in clear text on one occasion
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: Hello, folks, Today when I returned to my computer (which I locked with Super+L) and attempted to unlock it, it displayed my passphrase in cleartext in the 'Password' box. I noticed as soon as I got the first character in, then typed in the second character and it stayed clear. I then picked up my phone to record the attached video and while I was fiddling with it to get a good camera shot, the screen locked (for inactivity perhaps?) and when I unlocked this time, the password only displayed as dots (as expected). So unfortunately, I don't know how to replicate. It _did_ occur though, as the attached video will show if you go slowly (look for "hu", the first characters of legendary password "hunter2"). The touchscreen work, some gestures work but touchscreen is not able to handle multiple touch event unless I disable Gesture parameter. xinput --list Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ Wacom HID 50F1 Finger touch id=12 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ MSFT0001:02 06CB:7F8F Touchpad id=10 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ Wacom HID 50F1 Pen stylus id=11 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ Wacom HID 50F1 Pen eraser id=15 [slave pointer (2)] ⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)] ↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=6 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Video Bus id=7 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=8 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ EasyCamera: EasyCamera id=9 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Ideapad extra buttons id=13 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=14 [slave keyboard (3)] xinput --test 12 motion a[0]=8021 a[1]=5619 a[2]=0 a[3]=0 a[4]=0 a[5]=0 button press 1 a[0]=8021 a[1]=5619 a[2]=0 a[3]=0 a[4]=0 a[5]=0 button release 1 motion a[0]=8523 a[1]=5587 a[2]=0 a[3]=0 a[4]=0 a[5]=0 button press 1 a[0]=8523 a[1]=5587 a[2]=0 a[3]=0 a[4]=0 a[5]=0 button release 1 motion a[0]=8405 a[1]=4306 a[2]=0 a[3]=0 a[4]=0 a[5]=0 button press 1 a[0]=8405 a[1]=4306 a[2]=0 a[3]=0 a[4]=0 a[5]=0 motion a[0]=8399 a[1]=4313 a[2]=0 a[3]=0 a[4]=0 a[5]=0 button release 1 motion a[0]=7432 a[1]=5321 a[2]=0 a[3]=0 a[4]=0 a[5]=0 button press 1 a[0]=7432 a[1]=5321 a[2]=0 a[3]=0 a[4]=0 a[5]=0 button release 1 motion a[0]=7500 a[1]=5522 a[2]=0 a[3]=0 a[4]=0 a[5]=0 button press 1 a[0]=7500 a[1]=5522 a[2]=0 a[3]=0 a[4]=0 a[5]=0 button release 1 # keep one finger pressed and press another area button press 3 button release 3 I work with ubuntu 18.04 / Xorg / xinput. Prior to this version I was working with 17.10 / wayland. On 17.10 in order to make multitouch support more than 2 fingers at once I had to disable gnome gestures. Unfortunately, this is not working on ubuntu 18.04. So I found a parameter for my touchscreen called Gesture (Gesture - Turns on/off multi-touch gesture events (default is on).) By disabling this parameter for my touchscreen, multitouch is working as expected. But no more ... Gestures ! I think both should work together ** Affects: xinput (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1772637 Title: Yoga 720 touchscreen multitouch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xinput/+bug/1772637/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1749766] Re: No libGLESv1_CM.so symlink present
Thanks for the answer! When and why it was dropped, while drivers still have GLES1 calls inside binary? Mesa's libGL.so still does have them. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1752053] Re: nvidia-390 fails to boot graphical display
I had working proprietary drivers for my GTX 1080 Ti and then I upgraded from 17.10 to 18.04. Everything worked well, gdm login screen appears, but AFTER entering username and password and hitting ENTER, I only get a black screen. For me #123 solved the problem, thanks for the detailed description. Just wanted to add that when booting in recovery mode, the timing issue also did not appear and I was able to login. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1752053 Title: nvidia-390 fails to boot graphical display To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1752053/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1772588] [NEW] Remove obsolete X11 video drivers from the archive
Public bug reported: xserver-xorg-video-all has not depended on these drivers for quite some time now, meaning that installation images didn't have them either nor installed them on the system.
