[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1794995] [NEW] Lacking full setting for display(Can't adjust brightness)
Public bug reported: Title of my display under Settings is "Unknown Display". I think there's no proper display driver for my laptop in this new distribution, "18.04", because the setting for my display works fine before I upgrade from 16.04. While I said "works fine", I meant, I could use the "fn" button plus with the brightness adjusting button, which is "f5" and "f6" on my laptop, to adjust the brightness. Other than the "fn" combination button not working, I can't even adjust the brightness in the setting and inside the main menu bar, which I think there might have since a control center is one of the features of this version upgrade. So, thanks for reading my problem, and please help, otherwise, it's so unhealthy for my eyes for looking at a screen with too bright for so long and I have to look at the screen for so long. Thanks in advance. Ps, in case it's needed, the model of my laptop is, ASUS T300F. A transform 2-in-one laptop. The fact that my laptop can "transform" might be the reason why I got this issue, the drive that serves all just fail to meet its needs. I'm sorry. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1768976] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 is overheating after upgrade from 16.04
Same for me: ubuntu 18.04 just installed on Dell Precision M3800. Before I was on 16.04 and CPU temp during normal session was about 47-55 deg. Now, it's constantly at 63-80 deg. I tried lots of tweaks (install thermald, tlp, cpufreq-selector, etc). Nothing worked until now. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1794961] [NEW] Keyboard layout changes on Shift+Shift and Alt+Alt when set to Alt+Shift
Public bug reported: Ubuntu release: 18.04.1 Package version: x11-xkb-utils 7.7+3ubuntu0.18.04.1 Please note: I'm not 100% sure it's the correct package to file the bug against. Since the upgrade to 18.04, I had to use gnome-tweaks to get my usual keyboard layout switching to work. It's set in options as Alt+Shift, no other option is selected (see screenshot attached), and usual Gnome shortcuts are disabled. Expected: Alt+Shift switch the layout, and nothing else does. Actual: Alt+Shift does change the layout, however, together with that Alt+Alt and Shift+Shift change the layout as well. This generates a lot of unwanted layout switches. $ setxkbmap -print xkb_keymap { xkb_keycodes { include "evdev+aliases(qwerty)" }; xkb_types { include "complete" }; xkb_compat{ include "complete" }; xkb_symbols { include "pc+us+ru:2+gb:3+inet(evdev)+group(alt_shift_toggle)" }; xkb_geometry { include "pc(pc105)" }; }; As a workaround, Left Alt+Left Shift option works as expected, but this is still a bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1794280] Re: gdm doesn't start on a fresh installation of Cosmic Desktop
and compared to Debian, our kernel doesn't seem to enable bochs-drm because of an old bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kmod/+bug/1378648 which probably should be re-enabled by now ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Cosmic) Status: New => Confirmed ** Also affects: kmod (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1794280 Title: gdm doesn't start on a fresh installation of Cosmic Desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1794280/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1794280] Re: gdm doesn't start on a fresh installation of Cosmic Desktop
while enabling bochs-drm just works around the actual bug, I think it's best for cosmic at this stage -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1794280 Title: gdm doesn't start on a fresh installation of Cosmic Desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1794280/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1794280] Re: gdm doesn't start on a fresh installation of Cosmic Desktop
The difference between live-image and installed system is that the live- image session doesn't have /dev/fb0 around while an installed system does (by efifb). I've no idea why that is. but for some reason fbdev fails to use that device set up by efifb -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1794280 Title: gdm doesn't start on a fresh installation of Cosmic Desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1794280/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
