[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1818456] [NEW] Horrible video experience with Intel Graphic after new fresh install

2019-03-03 Thread Welington R. Braga
Public bug reported:

Since my new fresh install of Ubuntu 18.04 I can't have a good
experience.

Use a simple gEdit is impossible because the text area is not showed in
a white background but "cloning" everything that were in that screen
position curiously it not happen with Leafpad editor. But occur with
Gnome-claculator.

My LibreOffice can't show their buttons in any toolbar.

I've tried to install the oibaf PPA (sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oibaf
/graphics-drivers) expcting some improve but nothing change. Unhappily.

Some years ago I have this same experience in Ubuntu 16.04 but it was
over (I don't know how) and even after a dist-upgrade to 18.04 it is OK,
but now I had to to new install and the bug is here. Unhappily.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1778011] Re: SRU: PRIME Power Saving mode draws too much power

2019-03-03 Thread Fink Nottle
@Alberto, with prime-select intel as well as with bbswitch off, powertop
shows the nvidia tunable as "good". Still, the battery's discharge rate
on idle remains pretty high (around 20W) on prime-select intel. With
bbswitch off, it drops to 13W or thereabouts. Do you need any more
information ?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1763648] Re: [needs-packaging] nvidia-304 (304.137) missing in Ubuntu 18.04

2019-03-03 Thread Craig Langman
I would just like to add I wish it worked too, for an older system with
an older video card and crt monitor. The neavau driver is causing the
mouse pointer to intermittently disappear when changing resolutions and
a solution (for older ubuntu) was to switch to nvidia drivers.

There may be a good reason why not to fix and provide it for Ubuntu 18,
but no explanation provided.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1818422] [NEW] Totem: DBus reports wrong .desktop file name

2019-03-03 Thread moma
Public bug reported:

Totem - MPRIS2 - DBus-interface:
My application is asking Totem (video player) various data via (MPRIS2)
DBus-interface.

When asking "DesktopEntry", totem return value "totem" (meaning totem.desktop).

That is probably wrong.

Ubuntu 19.10 has no "totem.desktop" file.
$ updatedb
$ locate totem.desktop

The right answer would be "org.gnome.Totem". That is
/usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Totem.desktop

Please see:
https://specifications.freedesktop.org/mpris-spec/latest/Media_Player.html#Property:Identity

Please fix it.

Kindly
  Moma Antero
