[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1833189] Re: drivers are installed but not working
It appears the kernel (or the modeset driver) can't detect your monitor's EDID via the VGA cable. And an EDID is required to know the supported resolution. Without it you will be stuck in 1024x768. Please try a different VGA cable, or simply unplugging and replugging it. If you still have a problem then this is either a kernel bug or simply too old a monitor to be automatically detected. In the latter case you would need to manually program in the supported graphics modes, using something like: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xrandr#Adding_undetected_resolutions ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Summary changed: - drivers are installed but not working + EDID not detected, stuck in low resolution -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1833189 Title: EDID not detected, stuck in low resolution To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1833189/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
