[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1846201] Re: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)
OK, this sounds like a mutter bug... unless that weirdness in your Xrandr.txt is related: eDP-1 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) ... DP-1 connected primary 2560x1440+0+0 (0x152) normal (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 600mm x 340mm This means the desktop is arranged primarily to fit your external monitor (DP-1) but the built-in screen (eDP-1) has no known position. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1846374] [NEW] Having a video playing/paused when switched to another user generates gigabytes of error logs
Public bug reported: To replicate: 1. Start a video playing, for example in vlc. 'avcodec decoder: Using NVIDIA VDPAU Driver Shared Library 418.56 Fri Mar 15 12:31:51 CDT 2019 for hardware decoding' 2. Optionally pause it. 3. Switch to another user. The original user's ~/.xsession-errors will rapidly fill up with errors along the lines of "vdpau_chroma filter error". At the same time, errors are put in /var/log/syslog as well: [7f9d604810a0] vdpau_chroma filter error: video mixer features failure: An invalid handle value was provided. [7f9d604810a0] vdpau_chroma filter error: video mixer attributes failure: An invalid handle value was provided. [7f9d604810a0] vdpau_chroma filter error: video mixer rendering failure: An invalid handle value was provided. (repeat ad nauseum) At least one of the two will rapidly fill up its partition and problems will arise. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1846323] Re: libinput measure ... fails with "Error: No module named 'libevdev'"
This feels like a packaging bug so I haven't reported it upstream yet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1846323 Title: libinput measure ... fails with "Error: No module named 'libevdev'" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libinput/+bug/1846323/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

OK, found it. We're missing python3-libevdev Not sure why I didn't see that earlier. ** Changed in: libinput (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: libinput (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1846323 Title: libinput measure ... fails with "Error: No module named 'libevdev'" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libinput/+bug/1846323/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1846201] Re: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)
I wonder if the delay is equal to the number of buffers' whose damage mutter is tracking... What this means is that it could take 3 or 4 frames to update everything. I've seen reports of such issues in mutter 3.34, like bug 1845623. If you have a separate window animating in the corner of the screen (glxgears or a video) then does that work around the problem? How about if you have a maximized window constantly updating underneath? ** Changed in: mutter (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1846201 Title: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1846201/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1846201] Re: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)
Ubuntu on Wayland has same behavior, but worst. Video attached shows open a new tab with CTRL+T and the new tab not being rendered until I create a new. Then I remove both, I create a new one, not rendered, and got rendered only when the mouse is moved. https://photos.app.goo.gl/6Nc6oABXs1xX1ks26 This worked fine in 19.04 and works fine now with external display. I'll send another video showing how windows animation for align right/left do not work, windows just step from one state to the next with no animation. Minimize/maximize are perfect. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1846201 Title: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1846201/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
