[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1906341] Re: Touchpad button doesn't work on Dell Precision 7550/7750

2020-11-30 Thread Kai-Chuan Hsieh
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected bionic ubuntu

** Description changed:

  [Impact]

   * The touchpad's right button become no function after update to 5.4
  kernel

   * The INPUT_PROP_BUTTONPAD property is set by 5.4 kernel, so that
  libinput regard it as clickpad.

   * Add a model quirk to unset the bit can make touchpad's right button
  works normally.

  [Test Case]

   * 1. Boot into Ubuntu
     2. Identify touchpad input device number,
    can be obtained in $HOME/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log
     3. $ udevadm info /sys/class/input/inputX
    check PROP environment variable,
it is 5 if INPUT_PROP_BUTTONPAD property is set
     4. And the touchpad right button become no function
     5. After update the libevdev with disable_property
API and libinput10 with model quirk
     6. reboot
     7. The input device PROP is still 5,
but touchpad right button is workable

  [Where problems could occur]

   * For libevdev2 package, backport the upstream commit:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libevdev/libevdev/-/commit/4226c7801b4ea1b0c7d1eaac47ca24ece8f24809
The API is not originally exist in the system,
so it will only be utilized by our model quirk.

   * For libinput, add model quirk for the platform to disable
     INPUT_PROP_BUTTONPAD bit.
Only disable the INPUT_PROP_BUTTONPAD for specified model,
     and it doesn't issue any
IO command to kernel, so the behavior should be the same
as previous kernel when INPUT_PROP_BUTTONPAD is not set.

  [Other Info]

   * A public bug is reported

https://www.dell.com/community/Linux-Developer-Systems/Touchpad-right-click-button-not-working-with-Ubuntu-20-04-on/td-p/7636831
   * A workable build for Bionic is in my ppa

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1906316] Re: Xorg crash

2020-11-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1906316] Re: Xorg crash

2020-11-30 Thread Vonschutter
I do not understand why this is so complicated. You dont see Microsoft
or apple or google asking you to log in to a web page and diddle with
some kind of ticket system... just ask for permission and collect the
info. If you need to probe more and dig deeper, fine... go a head... Ask
if you may contact the user... why all this?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1897185] Re: Laptop docked with lid closed, goes to sleep immediately on login

2020-11-30 Thread Tim Wetzel
This bug remains, and exhibits with every startup in the T570's
UltraDock. Likewise, this bug has exhibited on every system here (all
ThinkPads) when in their respective UltraDocks. This includes a T480,
which is a current machine based on the i7-8xxx chipset.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1877762] Re: 1360x768 Vega graphics display staggered

2020-11-30 Thread Mike Birch
This bug still seems to be active:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-8537062.html#8537062
It is still happening on my machine except the interference seems to be more
corrupt along the lines of Simon's image.
I believe it briefly stopped some time ago but by the time I started checking
the new versions, it started up again.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1897530] Re: [modeset][nvidia] X Server session crash with "No space left on device" and then "EnterVT failed for gpu screen 0"

2020-11-30 Thread Timo Aaltonen
actually, there's a regression filed upstream

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/issues/1105

and it's fixed by this

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/merge_requests/559

so we'd need to amend this SRU with that oneliner. And put it in
hirsute/groovy too.
