Alternatively, you might like to try using 'Ubuntu on Wayland' instead.
If you then encounter any crashes in gnome-shell, please report them as
new bugs and mention the bug IDs here.

2021-02-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The DisplayLink engineer I asked no longer works for DisplayLink :(

The next step for anyone affected would be to try and get a better
quality stack trace because we need to find out what part of iris_dri.so
is really crashing. If you're on Ubuntu 20.04 then please install:

  https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/libgl1-mesa-dri-
dbgsym_20.2.6-0ubuntu0.20.04.1_amd64.ddeb

and then send us the system logs (journalctl output) from the crash next
time it happens.

You can use 'dpkg -l' to find out what's installed.

As for bug 1907142, I have now subscribed a DisplayLink engineer so
let's see what he says.

Yes, i did #16 install when you asked it. I just did it again, seems I
can do it again with no warning. I expected something like "yet

2021-02-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Some small good news: Both the Xorg crash and the Wayland crash appear
to have the same cause. Both are always preceded by:

kernel: i915 :00:02.0: Resetting rcs0 for hang on rcs0

and then either Xorg or gnome-shell (for Wayland sessions) crashes.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1915125] Re: xorg crash

2021-02-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1914573 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1914573

Thanks for the bug report. I can't see any evidence of a Xorg crash in
the attached files, so let's just group this with bug 1914573.

Please continue using bug 1914573 to discuss Xorg crashes, and if you
would like to discuss Wayland crashes then open a new bug.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1914573] Re: [DisplayLink] Xorg crashes and return to login screen

2021-02-09 Thread paquin pierre
Hello,

I just had the crash. I send you the new curboot file for investigation.

I have a new entry on /var/crash, but no "uploaded" and i can't ubuntu-bug the
crash file. There's no entry on "Error reports" webpage. As the crash file is
"_usr_lib_xorf_Xorg.1000.crash", i did a "ubuntu-bug xorg". That created this
bug :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1915125

If it doesn't help, you can close 1915125 new bug.

Please check the system journal on this virtual machine by running:

  journalctl -f

in case this is another duplicate of bug 1880405 like bug 1915040 was.
