2021-03-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1895502 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1895502

Thanks for the bug report. I can actually see two unrelated crashes
here.

1. XorgLogOld.txt is showing what looks like bug 1871959.

2. CurrentDmesg.txt is showing a kernel crash in nvkm_pmu_init [nouveau]

So I'm guessing you mostly want to subscribe to bug 1871959. But I will
also make this bug about the kernel crash. Although installing the
official Nvidia driver via the 'Additional Drivers' app should avoid
that.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1917415] Re: Xorg freeze

2021-03-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

The attached files seem to show the nouveau kernel driver is crashing,
so you will probably experience a freeze when that happens. This is a
somewhat common problem and the best we can suggest is to use the
official Nvidia driver instead. It seems driver version 340 is the
correct one for your GPU so to install that you can run:

  sudo apt install nvidia-340

and then reboot.
