Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1936769] Re: [Braswell] HDMI monitors don't work when powered off and on again
I think this might be a monitor problem. I swapped the VGA and HDMI monitors and the system now comes back up as it should BUT I have done this before and then it went bad again. I think the next thing is to see if the Lenovo monitor has a software upgrade but their website is down, so wait and see I guess. Regards, Graeme. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1936769] Re: [Braswell] HDMI monitors don't work when powered off and on again
Thanks again for your reply For some reason I nearly missed your email, Google sent it to Promotions and I only found it because it came up on my phone. Cold reboot does not show the option of Wayland but logging out did but the HDMI still failed to come up. I also tried running both Bionic Beaver and Xubuntu from DVD but the problem still existed. This makes me wonder if somehow it is a computer problem; although HP is said to be maximized for Ubuntu. When it was current BB worked OK. It is only since upgrade the problem has existed. Hope you have some more thoughts on the matter. Thanks again, Graeme On Tue, Jul 20, 2021 at 11:05 AM Daniel van Vugt <1936...@bugs.launchpad.net> wrote: > The first thing we need to do is check to see if this is a Xorg-specific > bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1936847] Re: [amd] Xorg crashed on wakeup from suspend
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xorg-server (Ubuntu) ** Tags added: amdgpu ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1936847 Title: [amd] Xorg crashed on wakeup from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1936847/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1936769] Re: [Braswell] HDMI monitors don't work when powered off and on again
The first thing we need to do is check to see if this is a Xorg-specific bug. Please try logging out (or rebooting) and select 'Ubuntu on Wayland' on the login screen (button in the bottom right corner). After you do that, does this bug still occur? ** Summary changed: - [Braswell] HDMI not working properly + [Braswell] HDMI monitors don't work when powered off and on again ** Changed in: linux-hwe-5.8 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: mutter (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1936769 Title: [Braswell] HDMI monitors don't work when powered off and on again To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe-5.8/+bug/1936769/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1934783] Re: Graphical glitches with Mesa 21.0.3 on AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT
** Description changed: + [Impact] + The new upstream version 21.0.3 has a regression on radeonsi (amdgpu), which shows as graphical corruption on the desktop apps with certain hardware. + + The fix is to add a commit from upstream staging/21.0 -branch, which + never got released as 21.0.4. + + [Test case] + Install the update, use desktop apps, see that it works correctly now. + + [Where things could go wrong] + The fix adds a single line for an earlier commit that was incomplete. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1936769] Re: [Braswell] HDMI not working properly
Thank you so much for your prompt reply; unfortunately it leaves me no further ahead. To clarify I run my system on solar power - battery/inverter, it's much cleaner than the grid around here, and cheaper. The computer is left turned on all the time but the monitors (2) are turned off to save power. When the monitors are turned back on HDMI does not come up. It used to on older versions of Ubuntu but not now. Hope this makes it a bit clearer.
