[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2062948] [NEW] intel-mediasdk: ftbfs with GCC-13

2024-04-19 Thread Zixing Liu
Public bug reported:

Imported from Debian bug http://bugs.debian.org/1037699:

Package: src:intel-mediasdk
Version: 22.5.4-1
Severity: normal
Tags: sid trixie
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: ftbfs-gcc-13

[This bug is targeted to the upcoming trixie release]

Please keep this issue open in the bug tracker for the package it
was filed for. If a fix in another package is required, please
file a bug for the other package (or clone), and add a block in this
package. Please keep the issue open until the package can be built in
a follow-up test rebuild.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-13/g++-13, but succeeds to build with gcc-12/g++-12. The
severity of this report will be raised before the trixie release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://qa-logs.debian.net/2023/05/22/logs/intel-mediasdk_22.5.4-1_unstable_gccexp.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 13, either set CC=gcc-13 CXX=g++-13 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with
-Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.
For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide at
http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-13/porting_to.html

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2037015] Re: Screen corruption of slides during install on Raspberry Pi

2024-04-19 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I have a hunch the problems might have started in WebKit 2.43.2 which included
a backport of:
https://github.com/WebKit/WebKit/commit/8b0ce3683045d93cd365e91a4299f7e9babfc126

That's forcing us to take a whole new code path which clearly we're just
discovering is a bit buggy on some platforms.

To work around it, you can export:

  WEBKIT_DMABUF_RENDERER_FORCE_SHM=1

which should have better performance than another workaround:

  WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1

Both of those also solve bug 2060938 and bug 2062146 which I suspect is
a newer crash caused by the newer Mesa in Noble. So if people find the
installer is reliably crashing recently then that might explain it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2061856]

2024-04-19 Thread Alex Murray
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Your bug report is more likely to get attention if it is made in
English, since this is the language understood by the majority of Ubuntu
developers. Additionally, please only mark a bug as "security" if it
shows evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries or to
directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any
other bugs you may find.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2061856] Re: gnome terminal

2024-04-19 Thread Alex Murray
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2062504] Re: Flickering problems on external monitor with HDMI after installing Ubuntu 23.10

2024-04-19 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This looks like a confused installation. The GPU is Intel, but you have
an Nvidia driver installed, and an AMD kernel workaround on the command
line.

But none of that should hurt...

What will hurt is the unsupported "oibaf" packages you have replaced the
official graphics drivers with. Sorry, but we cannot support such
changes. Please remove the PPA from your system or just reinstall the OS
without making any such changes. Then report new bugs for any issues you
find.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2062504] [NEW] Flickering problems on external monitor with HDMI after installing Ubuntu 23.10

2024-04-19 Thread J K
Public bug reported:

I just installed ubuntu 23.10 on my thinkpad L13. It works fine on my
laptop monitor. But when I connect an HDMI cable to my other monitor,
then the screen flickers on the laptop and nothing shows on the other
monitor

I know it can't be the problem with the other monitor as I bought it
brand new last week, and the cable works fine on this same laptop when I
run in windows, and it works fine on other laptops with windows/mac

I already installed the driver with `sudo apt install nvidia-driver-535
nvidia-dkms-535` and rebooted, but that didn't help. I then installed
driver 550 and I still have the flickering

This laptop uses an intel Alder Lake-UP3 GT2

I also tried editing `etc/default/grub` by adding 'nomodeset' or
'radeon.modeset=0' within the quotation marks in the line
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT but that didn't help either

can anyone help?
