[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1922414] Re: ssh-agent fails to start (has_option: command not found)
As a workaround, I created the file 01x11-has_option (find it attached) and placed it in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/. It defines has_option unless it is already defined somewhere else. ssh-agent now runs in the background on startup again. ** Attachment added: "/etc/X11/Xsession.d/01x11-has_option" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1922414/+attachment/5485456/+files/01x11-has_option -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1922414 Title: ssh-agent fails to start (has_option: command not found) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1922414/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1922414] Re: ssh-agent fails to start (has_option: command not found)
Looks like /etc/X11/Xsession is not executed, but the files in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/ are sourced somehow. My best guess is that there's some other mechanism emulating Xsession's behaviour but without defining has_option. Maybe this is a pending bug introduced in an earlier version of Ubuntu that has come to light just now, after has_option has been moved as #3 points out. BTW: I'm using lightdm with the Arctica Greeter. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1922414 Title: ssh-agent fails to start (has_option: command not found) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1922414/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 955277] Re: screen flickering with RevengeOfTheTitans
I am sorry the problem is still present with your ppa. I also think that the linked report (bugzilla) is a different issue. I have taken a look at the screenshots and they look different in comparison to my problem. As it seems there are only textures flickering (missing). In my case the »GL content« is corrupted and flickering/flashing. libgl1-mesa-dri: Installiert: 8.0.3-0ubuntu0~xup1~precise Kandidat:8.0.3-0ubuntu0~xup1~precise Versionstabelle: *** 8.0.3-0ubuntu0~xup1~precise 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/bryce/mesa-803/ubuntu/ precise/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 8.0.2-0ubuntu3.1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main i386 Packages 8.0.2-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main i386 Packages -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/955277 Title: screen flickering with RevengeOfTheTitans To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mesa/+bug/955277/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 813343] Re: nvidia drivers, second monitor covered by black
I use a Dell Vostro 1500 with a GeForce 8600M GT. I used to have lucid with gnome2 (of course) with a seperate x-server setting for my external tft. everything worked like a charme. Then i switched to an SSD and did a oneiric reinstall. When installing any oneiric nvidiadriver and setting up the seperate xserver setting i get the same issue with black (or white when i click around) screen on the external tft. Mouse apears as the low-graphic X, nothing of unity is shown, nothing is clickable. Twinview works, BUT like #66 its ugly slow. compiz and Xorg are using >10%cpu each, scrolling in chromium gets laggy, shoving programs between ext. and laptop screen laggs and switching to fullscreen takes several seconds. It is like using an old pentium 2 :/ this is the bug with the seperate xscreen. its unity related like this one. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-settings/+bug/882143 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/813343 Title: nvidia drivers, second monitor covered by black To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/813343/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

This Bug affects me, too. Using a Dell Vostro 1500 with nvidia 8600GTM with an external Monitor via VGA wth nvidia-current. Used to have 2 seperate X Screens on Lucid before with gnome2. Twinview works on both Screens, but with seperate x-screens options i either get a white screen or the wallpaper but no panel or dash. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 437173] Re: [GM45] Bad resulution choice for mirror mode with two 16:10 displays
Yes, the bug is still in natty. Dell E6500 1400x900 and Dell U2410 1920x1200 both have aspect 16/10. Still, first common resolution algorithm is used, despite the fact that in this case a 4/3 one is the first math and both displays are therefore either scaled/black-bordered. ==> Visually ugly result :( There a little change as now the first common resolution is now 1152x864 (also 4/3) instead of 1024x768. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 758593] Re: input (mouse) hangs every 30 sec
As it seems this problem comes from the CRT hotplug detection. I have booted the kernel with this option "drm.debug=0x06" and now I see this message in my logs: kernel: [ 833.140022] [drm:intel_crt_detect], CRT not detected via hotplug As a workaround I have tried to execut this command: echo N > /sys/module/drm_kms_helper/parameters/poll but this didn't help. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 758593] [NEW] input (mouse) hangs every 30 sec
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Most noticeable is, that my mouse hangs every 30 sec. How I reproduce this problem and make it visible: 1. start glxgears 2. move the mouse in circles 3. mouse should hang every 30 sec. you should also see a drop in fps in glxgears This is the terminal output: 301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.153 FPS 301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.151 FPS short mouse hanger 295 frames in 5.0 seconds = 58.951 FPS lower fps 301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.153 FPS 301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.151 FPS 301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.151 FPS 301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.149 FPS 301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.152 FPS short mouse hanger 293 frames in 5.0 seconds = 58.553 FPS lower fps 301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.150 FPS 301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.150 FPS 301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.154 FPS 301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.151 FPS 301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.151 FPS short mouse hanger 294 frames in 5.0 seconds = 58.752 FPS lower fps If I do not move the mouse I don't have any hangs. I am not 100% sure if this problem is related to xorg but I have tried a newer kernel (2.6.39-daily) and several older versions of xserver-xorg-inut-evdev and the problem was still present. I think some updates from last week (4–7 Apr 2011) introduced this regression. Just wanted to say, that everything is working out of the box here. I have tested this with two system both with intel graphics (Karmic). I also tested both directions. One system has a gma945 and the other has a X4500HD. As far as I understand this problem it seems, that only proprietary drivers are affected. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 135557] Re: [i965gm] Kubuntu: Screen dimensions of external monitor not correct on X server startup (intel driver)
Hi 7oby, well, ... 1) Keith describes that with the current algorigthm _his_ LVDS used the native (i.e. best) resolution. So he stopped after 'works-for-me' (perfectly fine for the first start). If this would be the case for me too, everything would be alright too ;) As this is not the case, and the algorithm fails miserably in result visible, I had to write this bug report and bug 437173. 2) I could not try you 'fix dpi' setting, as the user took the laptop with him again, nevertheless this would be a workaround (but thx for pointing me to the setting). I reported it in the hope it can be fixed. Back on topic: agreeing on one dpi is fine (in the first step) but when the high resolution monitor is turned off with xrandr, the dpi (as xrandr and xdpyinfo report them) should be changed to the native resolution of the only remaining monitor (96dpi) and not stay at 147 dpi. Dell Latitude D600 still shows the bug running karmic beta 1: Displaysize is notauto detected and dpi set to 96 dpi instead of the real 124 dpi. With the size im mm adjusted to the artificial 96dpi. xdpyinfo: ... screen #0: dimensions:1400x1050 pixels (370x277 millimeters) resolution:96x96 dots per inch ... Workaround: as karmic does not use xorg.conf in the default setup, I've modified /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc to start the xserver with the options -dpi 124. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 135557] Re: [i965gm] Kubuntu: Screen dimensions of external monitor not correct on X server startup (intel driver)
I had a short possibilty to borrow the D830 again. I've tried the Kubuntu Karminc beta 1 i386 LifeCDROM and the bug is still there. After boot the latitude D830 (1680x1050) + Dell 24'' TFT via DVI of the docking station choose on first common resolution: 1152x864. So the fonts are way to big (see attachment 1-xrandr.after-login) This part of the bug I've already seen and report with more recent hardware [GM45] Latitude E6500 + dvi in docking station + Dell 24'' TFT. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/437173 : [GM45] Bad resulution choice for mirror mode with two 16:10 displays What's different from bug 437173 ss that when I turn of the LVDS, with xrandr --output LVDS --off, that the TMDS does not scale to 1920x1600 automaticly not does xrandr --output TMDS --auto convince the driver to use the native resolution of the external TFT (that works in the GM45 case). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 437173] [NEW] [GM45] Bad resulution choice for mirror mode with two 16:10 displays
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel With two 16:10 displays, a Dell Latitude E6500 laptop (1440 x 900) and a Dell 24'' TFT ( 1920 x 1200), the intel gfx driver chooses the 4:3 resolution of 1024x748 for both. Visual result is a low 4:3 transformed to fullscreen 16:10, this looks pretty poor. It's the first matching common resolution according to xrandr output, nevertheless ... ...much better would be: If both monitors have the same aspect ratio (e.g. 16:10 or 4:3) choose the smaller resolution as the common base and scale to the size bigger monitor.(Because only one monitor needs scaling it should even save tons of GPU cycles. With the proposed algorithm, one output runs with the 'perfect' native resolution and only one is transformed, with taspect ratio is presered! Currently base resolution is: lower than min. of both display, _both_ are transformed, aspect ratio is not kept.
