[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 568779] Re: 10.04 rc livecd boots into black/blank screen (intel 82852/855GM graphic card)

2010-04-28 Thread Alex Denvir
I can confirm that installing kernel 2.6.34-020634rc5-generic as per
comment 28 by Alban has fixed this issue for me on my Dell Latitude X300

You could also try having a read over
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Bugs/Lucidi8xxFreezes

The issue is (as stated on the wiki) that support for this particular
graphics adapter is poor. Different workarounds will work for different
people, and there is no one workaround for all (yet).

The best advice I can give is use the .19 kernel that worked previously,
or try the 2.6.34 as described in comment 20.

If you were planning on rolling out 10.04 to your 50 development
laptops, I would advise waiting a month or 2 on Karmic. Every release
comes and it takes a while for all the major bugs to be sorted. If you
were upgrading because 10.04 is an LTS release, remember 8.04 LTS is
still supported for another year.
