[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2061298] Re: Screen corruption in Firefox and Thunderbird when using Wayland
This appears to only happen if Firefox and Thunderbird are set to use the "System theme - auto" theme. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2061298] [NEW] Screen corruption in Firefox and Thunderbird when using Wayland
Public bug reported: After upgrading from Ubuntu 23.10 to 24.04, Firefox and Thunderbird both suffer from screen corruption when running with Wayland and virtual desktops. The main windows are fine, but their tab bars show old data from other apps in other virtual desktops. Attached are screenshots of this. The screenshots don't really show the corruption, but they do show the areas that are corrupted as a grey "chessboard" pattern. Apologies if this is filed against the wrong package. If so, please re- assign it. I had been recommended by Budgie Developer to submit it as a bug, Im only doing what they asked me to do: fossfreedom Ubuntu Budgie Team Member 1d That’s the whole point of the bug report. If you search for VT in the Xorg.1.log you can see it attempts to start Xorg on VT 7... which is the VT where :0 is running. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1256150] Re: Xorg guest session fails to start if the user has logged out and logged in again
I now know exactly what causes this bug. The problem is that the VT gets unref'd once when the server shuts down, and then unref'd again much later when the object gets finalized. This might happen after the VT has already been allocated and ref'd to another server. This makes lightdm think the VT is free, when it isn't. This is an annotated log, with extra debugging code added: *** I've logged in (once) and now I log out for the first time. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1217585] [NEW] System hangs after some time with nouveau and GT240
Public bug reported: With the Nouveau driver I get random system hangs in the Live CD - any version since it was switched to nouveau up until today's daily images. It happens after half an hour to a couple of hours usage and affects installed systems as well, until they are switched to the proprietary driver. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 923149] [NEW] Xorg randomly crashes when using xscreensaver and glslideshow
Public bug reported: When using xscreensaver with glslideshow, the X server randomly crashes after a few hours. Typically, this manifests itself by my coming to the computer after leaving it overnight, only to find it at the X login screen. This happens most nights, and sometimes during the day if I leave the computer long enough. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 223238] Re: Extremely slow Ajax/Javascript/CSS performance in Firefox 3 using non-free nvidia-glx-new
My observations (using firefox 3.6.13 and nvidia 260.19.06) - The problem only happens on launchpad.net. None of the other examples given on this bug still exhibit the problem. Likely they were all caused by the old slow javascript engine that was replaced in a version of FF since 3.0. But the launchpad problem is different because: - The problem still happens even when javascript is disabled, but it does not happen if you save the HTML of a launchpad bug and load that. - The problem gets worse as the firefox window becomes larger. This would seem to imply something is causing too many fullscreen repaints. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223238 Title: Extremely slow Ajax/Javascript/CSS performance in Firefox 3 using non-free nvidia-glx-new ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Reopening - I've just today started to get a very similar problem using nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 on Jaunty, after installing some updates. ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New ** Package changed: nvidia-graphics-drivers-177 (Ubuntu) = nvidia- graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- Display gets corrupted and garbled every 5-7 minutes when using compiz. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 309739] Re: Display gets corrupted and garbled every 5-7 minutes when using compiz. VT switch which takes ~1min required to reset screen
Steps to reproduce: none, it randomly happens every 5-10 minutes while using compiz. Cannot reproduce with other (none compositing) WM, nor see any kind of corruption in opengl games. Switching to VT clears the corruption until the next time. Nothing freezes or crashes at any point. ** Attachment added: Xorg.0.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28640306/Xorg.0.log -- Display gets corrupted and garbled every 5-7 minutes when using compiz.
