Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1154431] Re: Unity doesn't start up
On 13 Mar 17, Rafal Cieślak wrote: I am affected by a bug which looks just as this one, and appeared in in apparently the same version of unity package, yet I can't tell if it's indeed the same - for I am using AMD graphics. If this is the same bug, I might provide additional information. Can you please share your output when running `unity`? In my case it complains - among many warnings and other info - that plugin 'opengl' failed to load. This seems to be a significant clue. Uninstalling the nvidia binary drivers and sticking with nouveau along with re-enabling the unity plugin from CCSM made unity reappear. Try to check if the unity plugin in enabled first. However, the nouveau driver has a whole new set of regressions. So the desktop is pretty broken on 'R' currently. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1154431 Title: Unity doesn't start up To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/1154431/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Well, a few random ideas... I note you're running with no xorg.conf, and I wonder if you'd get the same problem with the stock xorg.conf (a somewhat different code path in the xserver is exercised when xorg.conf is there, vs. when it is absent). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 317094] Re: evtouch meta bug to collect lshal info
For everyone that has sent their lshal output to this bug, try the following: $ lsusb Find your vendor id and product id for the touchscreen. $ modprobe usbtouchscreen $ sudo sh -c echo vendor id product id /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usbtouchscreen/new_id e.g. From my lsusb, one of the entries is: Bus 005 Device 002: ID 0483:2016 SGS Thomson Microelectronics Fingerprint Reader So the vendor id is 0483, device id is 2016. So the above command would become something like: $ sudo sh -c echo 0483 2016 /sys/bus/usb/drivers/newfingerprintdriver/new_id Please report back if your touchscreen starts working. -- evtouch meta bug to collect lshal info https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317094 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-evtouch in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
