[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 966744] Re: [i965] Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended. Compiz hung in intel_update_renderbuffers() from intel_prepare_r

2012-12-17 Thread Andreas Hohenegger
My system is up to date but I can report now that it is fixed for me
with graphics drivers from xorg-edgers ppa (inluding kernel
3.7.0-4-generic 32 bit). But not in the present packages quoted above.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 995013] Re: Xorg freeze after lid closed/opened (screen turned off/on) several times

2012-12-10 Thread Andreas Hohenegger
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 966744 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/966744

I can confirm this on the same system Thinkpad T61, kernel is i386, and
intel grafic. I see it since an update from Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10. I
used 12.04 with tuxonice kernel (from tuxonice ppa) and did not
encounter this issue (though sleep/hibernate was never completely
stabel). With 12.04 hibernate stopped working with tuxonice. With
standard i386 kernel hibernate works only if I do sudo swapoff -a; sudo
swapon -a immediately before. I use Ubuntu with a pretty different
configuration running kde. This should allow to exclude many error
sources including Compiz. Also I do not use Firefox. Probably it is
worth trying an older kernel.

2012-12-10 Thread Andreas Hohenegger
I seem to encounter this bug as I just commented accidentally in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
intel/+bug/995013 . Above I read that it is fixed in package xserver-
xorg-video-intel - 2:2.20.9-0ubuntu1. According to my system I have
xserver-xorg-video-intel - 2:2.20.9-0ubuntu2 (quantal ppa's). Is it
fixed there?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 997373] Re: The system becomes unstable when something changes on the screen

2012-12-05 Thread Andreas Hohenegger
I see similar effects (crashes related to firefox/maybe flash) with the
same Intel graphics controler since an update to ubuntu 12.10 32bit. Are
there any updates on this issue? Is there a known fix?

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 774978 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774978

I knew this report from 11.10 used the workaround of adding

Section Module
 Disable record
EndSection

to the file /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-modules.conf .
It is still present since I upgraded. Is it not used anymore in 12.10?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1060970] [NEW] Mouse pointer goes crazy

2012-10-03 Thread Andreas Hohenegger
Public bug reported:

After a while the mouse pointer runs over the screen along a straight line
(upwards, downwards, diagonal etc.) if the numpad mouse was enabled using
setxkbmap -option keypad:pointerkeys
This bug will be difficult to reproduce as it seems to occur randomly and only
in certain setups. I encounter it working under KDE 4.9 on Ubuntu 12.04 (also
previous versions) which was why I asked here:
http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=111t=106913
I encounter it only working in dual screen setup with external keyboard and
mouse (both Logitech) attached to my Lenovo T61 thinkpad. So far not if I do
indeed use the numpad mouse but when it was left on unintentionally (not
deactivated by pressing Shift+Num-Lock ).
The movement of the pointer can be compensated by moving the mouse in the
opposite direction but the pointer runs too fast to perform a secure
logout/reboot. At the same time the system does not react to keyboard input.
This is a serious bug which forces the user to force reboot the system without
any chance to close unsaved files.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 976144] [NEW] Random xserver crashes after recent updates

2012-04-07 Thread Andreas Hohenegger
Public bug reported:

Since recent updates for Ubuntu 11.10 with KDE 4.8 backports PPA
(yesterday) I experience random X crashes.

So far it occurred only while I was running Firefox on KDE with
flashplayer plugin showing some streaming video. I have a T-series
Lenovo Notebook with Intel GM965 graphics.

Since the update included a new version of flashplayer I manually
returned to an older flashplayer version which I was running
successfully since a while furthermore I updated the Intel drivers using
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/glasen/intel-driver/ubuntu oneiric main.

I know that this is more a bug report than a question. In fact Random X
crashes in Ubuntu 11.04 looks similar and has been closed.

But this bug seems to exist since a year and I would like to know
whether its actually the same or if the issue is generally known/maybe
considered solved.
