[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1072183] [NEW] Touchpad became unusble after upgrade to Quantal

2012-10-27 Thread Andreas Noteng
Public bug reported:

After upgrade to Quantal touchpad became unusable. The mouse pointer
hardly moves. If two-finger scrolling is enabled it will often scroll
instead of moving the pointer. Scrolling using edge scrolling, tapping
and the buttons seem to work just fine. I had a similar problem the last
time I upgraded this computer, but it somehow magically fixed itself
after a couple of days, see bug #996592 for more info

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 996592] [NEW] Regression: Touchpad became unusble after upgrade to Precise

2012-05-08 Thread Andreas Noteng
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from Oneiric to Precise, the touchpad became unusable.
To make sure this wasn't caused by something beyond Ubuntu's controll, I
also tried a fresh install. The mouse poiner hardly moves at all. Scroll
does not work, but sometimes trying to move the pointer will scroll
instead. While typing this, the mouse pointer stopped reacting at all,
but started to slowly drift downwards towards the bottom of the screen.
If I move the pointr using an USB-mouse, it will immediately drift down
again.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 734320] [NEW] Left button on touchpad acts like middle click

2011-03-13 Thread Andreas Noteng
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Sometimes, and without any noticeable trigger the behavior of the left button
on the touchpad changes to what I belive i a simulated middle-click. In Firefox
left click starts opening links in a new background tab, and the same thing
happens in thunderbird when clicking on mail. Tapping the touchpad works as
normal, it's only the left button that's affected.
This happens randomly, and persists until the next reboot.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 556232] Re: Radeon HD 2600 - Dualscreen problem

2010-04-21 Thread Andreas Noteng
** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete = Confirmed

** Tags added: regression-potential

** Description changed:

  I've been running 10.04 since Alpha 2. I have a HP Compaq 8510p laptop with a
Radeon HD 2600 GFX card. I've connected an extra screen (HP 19 - max
resolution 1280x1024x60hz).
Now, the dualscreen setup has been working flawlessly, until one of the fixes
upgraded the kernel. Anything after 2.6.32-10-generic has been causing HSYNC
problems on the extra screen. It looks like every other horizontally line is at
least 1 pixel off horizontally, and this pattern scrolls downward, making the
dual screen impossible to use.
When I boot with grub, kernels = 2.6.32-10-generic works perfect. Anything
above causes this behaviour. Not only in X but also using the console (which
per default seems to run some VESA graphics resolution), which leads me to
believe there is something awry with the radeon kernel module or similar.
I've checked /boot/grub/grub.cfg, but there is no difference between the boot
entries.

I hope the source of this can be found fixed as I cannot go above any
kernel revision 2.6.32-10-generic until it's fixed.

- Let me know if you need any configurations, file versions or otherwise.
+ Mainline kernel 2.6.34-999-generic #201004211003 works as normal.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 556209] Re: [G72M] Display is shifted ca 7cm to the right.

2010-04-15 Thread Andreas Noteng
not knowing wich packages to remove I only removed the repo and
updated/upgraded, since it worked I figured it good enough and the ubuntu
packages had cought up to the repo in version numbers. Funny thing is that the
problem is once again gone..
Will use ppa-purge now.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 558649] Re: The fglrx driver is installed but not activated

Running aticonfig --initial fixes this, but this should not be necessary
when you activate a driver through jockey.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 556232] Re: Radeon HD 2600 - Dualscreen problem

2010-04-09 Thread Andreas Noteng
Video driver issues should be reported against the driver package so it gets
looked at by the xorg folks.
I'm afraid you'll have to run apport-collect again to make it send the x
related logs/files.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 556209] Re: [G72M] Display is shifted ca 7cm to the right.

2010-04-09 Thread Andreas Noteng
That was leftovers from when I helped test the nouveau driver before it was
included by default in lucid. Removed the xorg-edgers repository and ran an
update/upgrade today and things seems to be fixed. Thanks.
Closing as invalid.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 552782] Re: package fglrx (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: dpkg-divert: mismatch on package

2010-04-09 Thread Andreas Noteng
Please keep in mind that Ubuntu is completely free of charge, and a lot
of the work is done by volenteers on their spare time. Downloading a
alpha/beta release and reporting bugs is one way a normal user can
contribute. If you where looking for a stable system you should have
waited for the final release. The fix for this particular bug should be
available in the repositories so a simple update/upgrade should do it.

Emne: [Bug 552782] Re: package fglrx (not installed) failed to install/upgrade:
dpkg-divert: mismatch on package
Fra: J Harpster harpoma...@hotmail.com

I'm going to remove this (beta don't work) until your stable version
comes out at the end of the month.Since you can't send me a downloadable
fix that doesn't require writing in manually the solution I have no
interest in this beta version. I have wasted two days waiting for this
pile to install and at the end of it all you give me a notice of not
installed upgrade aborted then installed with problems all at the same
time make up your damn minds. It's back to 9.1 or windows if this
doesn't work out. I thought you guys had the right idea giving an
alternative to the insanely bloated windows that have built in back
doors for snooping but I was wrong I guess..

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 558649] [NEW] The fglrx driver is installed but not activated

2010-04-08 Thread Andreas Noteng
Public bug reported:

After using the workaround in Bug #552782 the fglrx driver is installed,
and according to jockey, the driver is activated, but it's not.
According to Xorg.0.log the RADEON driver is used, and the fan is
running full speed all the time.

There is no Xorg.conf file.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 463990] Re: package xorg-driver-fglrx (not installed) failed to install/upgrade:

2010-04-02 Thread Andreas Noteng
Can confirm this on two different laptops upgraded from karmic to lucid.
Leaves apt-system in a broken state with fglrx-amdcccle and two other
packages depending on fglrx installed. Manually removing the three
packages and installing fglrx after the upgrade is complete gives the
same error.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 482741] Re: package fglrx-kernel-source (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: Unterprozess installiertes pre-removal-Skript mit Signal (Interrupt) get?tet

2010-04-02 Thread Andreas Noteng
Bug reports should be in English as that is the most commonly used language by
Ubuntu developers and bug triagers. In the event that a bug report is not
received in English ask the reporter to translate their bug and any error
messages that are not in English. In the event that you are concerned that the
bug report is critical and needs to be translated quickly e-mail the Ubuntu
translators mailing list for help in getting the bug translated.
However, I believe this bug may be a duplicate of bug #463990

change driver from nvidia to nv (ctrl + o to save, ctrl + x to exit).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 387720] Re: nVidia GeForce2 MX 400 video driver fails in karmic

2010-02-26 Thread Andreas Noteng
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the
current Ubuntu development version, this would help us a lot. If you can
test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could
upload updated logs by running apport-collect bug #, and any other
logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
