[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1801898] Re: Only one of two external (displayport) displays is working without hotplug

2019-02-14 Thread Andreas Vinsander
I think this bug can be closed. Some upstream update (not sure which)
made it work as it should.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1801898] Re: Only one of two external (displayport) displays is working without hotplug

2019-02-11 Thread Andreas Vinsander
Thanks for the suggestion. I have however not enabled the mainline PPA
(yet).

This morning was the first, since the upgrade to Ubuntu 18.10, time that
both monitors worked directly after booting into Xorg. The kernel in use
was linux-image-4.18.0-14-generic (now upgraded to linux-
image-4.18.0-15-generic and still working monitors).

I have no clue neither what caused the bug nor what fixed it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1801898] Re: Only one of two external (displayport) displays is working without hotplug

2018-11-15 Thread Andreas Vinsander
Why is the bug still marked incomplete? I have provided the apport
information.

** Description changed:

- After upgrading to Ubuntu 18.10 from Ubuntu 18.04, when logging in my one of
my two external displays will not be activated without hotplugging the other
external display.
+ After upgrading to Ubuntu 18.10 from Ubuntu 18.04, when logging in one of my
two external displays will not be activated without hotplugging the other
external display.
The display settings app shows the second display as inactive, and when
trying to activate the settings app states that some hardware limitation stops
it from being possible to apply the change.
The laptop lid is closed, the internal laptop display is not active.

Hotplugging the other external display solves the problem - after
hotplug both external displays are active. This makes the bug annoying

2018-11-07 Thread Andreas Vinsander
I just ran apport-collect 1801898. But it doesn't seem to upload any
data to launchpad. I granted access to my launchpad account and apport
ran until showing a dialog where I clicked "Send". Then nothing more
happened.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1801898] [NEW] Only one of two external (displayport) displays is working without hotplug

2018-11-06 Thread Andreas Vinsander
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Ubuntu 18.10 from Ubuntu 18.04, when logging in my one of my
two external displays will not be activated without hotplugging the other
external display.
The display settings app shows the second display as inactive, and when trying
to activate the settings app states that some hardware limitation stops it from
being possible to apply the change.
The laptop lid is closed, the internal laptop display is not active.

Hotplugging the other external display solves the problem - after
hotplug both external displays are active. This makes the bug annoying
but workaroundable.

I am not sure if this bug belongs to the Xorg package or the linux
package.

Hardware:
Thinkpad t430s laptop sitting in a Thinkpad 4338 docking station, with two
external displays connected through displayport (via docking station).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1522727] Re: X.org crashes intermittently, randomly, back to the login screen

2016-03-14 Thread Andreas Vinsander
Has the fixed version reached the Ubuntu 15.10 repos? I still see this
kind of crash running xserver-xorg-video-intel version
2.99.917+git20150808-0ubuntu4 which I believe is the latest available
one from the apt repos.

Christopher, can I run that development release directly from a bootable USB

I could try the patched kernel as suggested in bug 1239186 as well.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1290400] [NEW] External screen turns off randomly

2014-03-10 Thread Andreas Vinsander
Public bug reported:

My external DVI connected monitor turns off randomly. For some reason it
can be woken up again by opening the System Settings application. I
have not been able to figure out what triggers it to turn off. When I
ran the 'ubuntu-bug xorg' to report this bug the problem was triggered
(coincidence or not?).

If my memory serves me right this started to happen after upgrading to
Ubuntu 13.04 (or 13.10)... meaning I have lived with this quite a while.
I thought I was alone until I spotted Bug 1239186, which describes the
same (or very similar) problem.

I was asked (by Chris Penalver) to report this as a separate bug when I
added a comment in Bug 1239186.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1239186] Re: External screens shut off randomly

2014-03-10 Thread Andreas Vinsander
New bug 1290400 filed as requested by Christopher.

launchpad?)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1239186] Re: External screens shut off randomly

2014-03-04 Thread Andreas Vinsander
I think I have the same issue as the original poster.
Regarding comment #29, is it enough to boot into a live CD and try to
reproduce? (I'm a bit reluctant to upgrade my work laptop to an unofficial
release)
