[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1480924] Re: fglrx-core 2:15.200-0ubuntu4.1: fglrx-core kernel module failed to build

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1479913 ***

My system also doesn't boot because of the driver problem. The boot is
halted somewhere before the login screen.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1480924] [NEW] fglrx-core 2:15.200-0ubuntu4.1: fglrx-core kernel module failed to build

2015-08-03 Thread Ari Torhamo
Public bug reported:

I changed the graphics card of my computer from Nvidia to Ati. I changed
the driver from proprietary Nvidia to Nouveau before changing the card.
After putting in the Ati card, there were no displaydrivers available in
Additional Drivers. Because of this, I used Software Center to install
fglrx driver. Something seems to have gone wrong with the installation,
because automatic error reporting was triggered. Software Center says
fxlrx is installed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 372727] Re: [Jaunty] Resolution 1920x1200 not available after installing Nvidia driver 173

2011-05-13 Thread Ari Torhamo
Unfortunately I haven't noticed any messages that may have been sent to
me afterJune 2009 concerning this bug report. I don't currently have an
access to the computer which the report is about. That may change later,
and in that case I will update this report. Thanks!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 422780] Re: nvidia settings ignored on reboot.

2009-10-12 Thread Ari Torhamo
I have two systems with the Nvidia 185 driver installed, and both have
this problem of settings disappearing, when done with the supplied
Nvidia display configuration tool. The problem is nothing new - I
remember having it in a couple of previous Ubuntu versions.

The settings indeed stay when I use the regular display configuration
tool. That isn't free of problems either, though. The available refresh
rates aren't normal: 64, 63, 62, 61, 60 and 59 Hz. Those aren't real,
however. When I choose the smallest one, I actually get 90 Hz (which is
good for my CRT monitor). The largest, 64 Hz actually gives 65 Hz. Many
users probably will try the largest number (if they aren't already
scared away when they see the strange numbers) and then give up. But I
think I'll make a separate bug report of this issue.

Hardware involved:
Graphics cards Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT and Nvidia Geforce GTX 275
CRT monitors Hitachi CM823F 21 and another one of 19

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 450000] [NEW] [Karmic] Available refresh rates named wrong in display settings

2009-10-12 Thread Ari Torhamo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Driver: Nvidia 185
Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT, Nvidia Geforce GTX 275
Monitor: Hitachi CM823F 21 CRT, 19 CRT

Expected behaviour:
Open the regular display configuration tool (not the one supplied by Nvidia)
and have reasonable refresh rate options available for my monitor, which can
handle 90 Hz @ 1600x1200. Typical options might be something like 90, 85, 75,
70, 65 and 60 Hz. Also expect the selected refresh rate and the one the monitor
is using to be the same.

What happened:
Opened the regular display configuration tool, and found that available refresh
rate options were seemingly very low. When I actually tried them, the refresh
rates were different from what the numbers suggested. Here are the presented
numbers on the left column and the actual refresh rates on the right:

64 60
63 65
62 70
61 75
60 85
59 90

Steps to repeat:
 - Go to System - Settings - Display
 - In Display Settings, open the drop-down list
 - Observe the available refresh rate options. If the bug manifests, they are
too small.
 - Compare the selected refresh rate with the actual refresh rate of your
monitor. If the bug manifests, they are not the same and the rate goes smaller
when you choose a larger one.

I forgot to mention that the second graphics card and monitor which I
listed are from another system which also suffers from this bug, so
there's only one card and monitor in my system.
