[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1046951] Re: No desktop environment or window manager, just X with the mouse
Try booting the ISO with live video=ofonly I've had to do this with my iMac G5 as well. Note, this bug may be a kernel bug, but I've assigned it to the radeon Xorg driver for now. I'll look into later. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Milestone: None = ubuntu-12.10-beta-2 ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Ben Collins (ben-collins) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1046951 Title: No desktop environment or window manager, just X with the mouse To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1046951/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 501689] [NEW] nVidia hangs on starting a second X instance at system boot
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-185 This only occurs with nvidia proprietary driver, and only on cold boot. Doing a warm boot, or using a different video card does not reproduce the problem. In addition, the 195 driver does not fix this problem either. Basically in startup scripts, a second Xorg instance is started (in addition to the normal gdm instance) on :5/vt11. The display will hang (strace shows on select()) until switching the console to vt11. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nVidia hangs on starting a second X instance at system boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/501689 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
