[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1975445] [NEW] Crash back to login screen when connecting external monitor in 22.04 LTS
Public bug reported: I upgraded my Ubuntu 20.04 LTS to 22.04 LTS using do-release-upgrade -d command on 2022/05/20 And then my external monitor, who worked well before on 20.04 LTS, was never able to connect. Everytime I try to connect it, set Joint Displays and press apply on the setting panel, the system crashes and goes back to login screen. When I switch to Windows on the same computer, external monitor is able to connect. Bug only appears on the new 22.04 LTS. System info: Device: Dell Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1450637] [NEW] Mouse left click doesn't work after a while
Public bug reported: I just installed 14.04 LTS a few days a ago and everything was working fine. But today, after a while the mouse (and touchpad) left click would stop working, right click and mouse movement seems working fine. I checked with xev, there is no left click button events coming. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1248256] Re: Plugging in displayport monitor causes kworker to take 100% CPU
I am experiencing a problem that sounds a lot like this: on a machine with Ubuntu 13.10 and an NVIDIA GT 640 graphics card, I had one monitor connected to the DVI-I port, and when I connected another monitor, to the DP port, kworker started running at 100%, and it still does after I unplugged the DP monitor. While I had the two monitors connected, the system would freeze for up to several minutes when I used the System Settings -- Display and Monitor, and I never managed to get anything shown on the DP monitor. Should I file a bug report for this? I'm completely new to the Launchpad bug reporting system! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 877438] Re: Unity/compiz has sluggish performance on dual-head with nvidia driver
I have spend a lot of time trying different setups to test this. The conclusion seems to be: 1) The problem is apparent on both ATI and Nvidia hardware. 2) It only occurs on multiscreen setups 3) It only and always occurs when the Unity plugin to Compiz is active. Simple reproduction can be done by: Standard unity desktop session across multiple screens. Run the attached python program in a fullscreen terminal on one screen. Try typing in another terminal on another screen. Python program to spout lines: import time import sys try: lps=float(sys.argv[1]) except IndexError: lps=0 a=0 while True: a+=1 print Dette er lang linie nummer %d som skal vise om vi kan lave hurtig scroll % a if lps 0: time.sleep(1.0/lps) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/877438 Title: Unity/compiz has sluggish performance on dual-head with nvidia driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/877438/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I have been experiencing problems with terminal when working on my laptop without any external screens connected. That confirms my suspicion that this may be caused by several separate issues. What I am experiencing is clearly linked to Compiz/Unity on a multi-screen desktop. Some of the other reports suggest that there might also be a separate issue with low performance related to specific combinations of drivers and hardware as well. I will split off bug #874619 as its title better reflects the issue i am seeing. /Bo Bai -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/877438 Title: Unity/compiz has sluggish performance on dual-head with nvidia driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/877438/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
