[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1152304] [NEW] Sometimes key presses get stuck leading to repeated characters
Public bug reported: Since updating to raring from quantal, two of my machines (a MacBookPro 5,1 and a MacBookAir 4,1) have exhibited this behavior. It seems to be more of a problem the faster I type, but that just increases the frequency of keypresses. Ocassionally while typing a key that I have pressed seems to stay stuck down and further input while that is going on is missed. The character repeats maybe 10 times, and then everything is back to normal. I don't have a way to reproduce this reliably, sometimes there are many hours between seeing it. One data point I do have is that it even happens when using synergy to control the raring box from a quantal machine, which is why I am reporting this against xorg and not the kernel where it might be construed as a USB or keyboard issue. Maarten thanks for the response re the two missing changes. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 936552] Re: MacBookAir 4, 1 trackpad does not work with evdev/multitouch driver
Well I've at least found a workaround. I added 'udevadm settle' right before the 'exec lightdm' in /etc/init/lightdm.conf. As long as that is in place, I do not experience this issue. So, I think this is an issue with boot speed. My machine has almost nothing installed beyond the default, and boots from grub - lightdm in about 5 - 8 seconds. That might explain why you don't see it Seth if you have more things starting at bootup, as that may be enough to delay X long enough for udev to be available. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/936552 Title: MacBookAir 4,1 trackpad does not work with evdev/multitouch driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/936552/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 936552] Re: MacBookAir 4, 1 trackpad does not work with evdev/multitouch driver
Update.. so now everything works fine with the synaptics driver, no boot to 3.2.1 or 3.2.6 required. I suspect this was an xorg problem all along. If I remove xserver-xorg-input-synaptics then the trackpad stops working (and oddly enough, the keyboard becomes really hard to use if X is running.. very hard to describe, but keypresses are lost). In my experience, the synaptics driver is really bad at palm detection, so I am not really happy about having to use it, but at this point, its my only option. Redirecting to xorg. Thanks everyone for the help thus far. ** Summary changed: - MacBookAir 4,1 trackpad does not work with synaptics driver until boot into 3.2.1 kernel + MacBookAir 4,1 trackpad does not work with evdev/multitouch driver ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) = xorg (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/936552 Title: MacBookAir 4,1 trackpad does not work with evdev/multitouch driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/936552/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 936782] [NEW] No longer working in precise
Public bug reported: This driver, IMO, is far superior to the synaptics driver. I have far more accidental clicks with the synaptics driver, and two finger scrolling, three finger taps, etc, all worked great with the mtrack driver. The recent Xorg upgrade seems to have disabled the mtrack driver... I had to remove it and install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics to get trackpad functionality again. Perhaps mtrack should be considered as a better replacement for synaptics, or synaptics blacklisted for Apple Trackpads in favor of whatever else works but does not suffer from nearly crippling palm-induced taps. ** Affects: xf86-input-mtrack (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-mtrack in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/936782 Title: No longer working in precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-mtrack/+bug/936782/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 853460] [NEW] Visual corruption on resume from suspend in all windows (compiz --replace eliminates it)
Public bug reported: Every time I suspend/resume my MacBookPro 5,1 in oneiric I get visual corruption (will attach screenshot). Running 'compiz --replace' fixes it. Reporting against xorg as I can't believe this is entirely compiz's fault and xorg is the general spot. It may also be a problem with the nvidia proprietary drivers. I'd try nouveau but it doesn't work at all with this laptop. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 813343] Re: nvidia drivers, second monitor covered by black
Excerpts from Jay Taoko's message of Wed Sep 14 15:52:12 UTC 2011: I will mark this as invalid, as I suspect a bug in Nvidia TwinView. Re- open if there are more information to suggest otherwise. I did actually have a more positive experience when disabling the second monitor today with all updates applied. I was in a hurry and not able to re-enable the second monitor, but will do so tonight when I return home. Still not sure if your experience alone is enough to change from Confirmed - Invalid, since you were never affected AFAIK. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/813343 Title: nvidia drivers, second monitor covered by black To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/813343/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
