I will trying to explain more : Have you completely migrate to Karmic Koala Beta version ??? first, DL the patch : http://launchpadlibrarian.net/32728179/xserver-xorg-backclear.patch then in a terminal do : sudo apt-get build-dep xorg-server apt-get source xorg-server cd xorg-server-1.6.4 = be careful to ajust the version to your xorg server version patch -p1 /path/to/xserver-xorg-backclear.patch = be careful to enter the right path to the patch. sudo apt-get install devscripts debuild cd .. sudo dpkg --install xserver-xorg-core*.deb You will probably have some gpg error, but it's not a problem, just ignore them. Applying last Karmic Koala update today cause this bug appears again. a xserver-xorg packages was updated, and I''ve had to patch again with Félix Kuehling's patch. I have exactly the same problem (maximise/minimise really slow) I can add the problem is also present when I use yakuake. It take about 1 to 3 seconds between the moment I press the F12 key (to launch yakuake) and the moment it appears. I've ubuntu 9.04 with a radeon 3670hd and FGLRX driver (9.7) .
