[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1653323] Re: Severe screen flicker on Unity when terminal maximized
I just tried the nouveau driver in 4.9.0-11-generic. Now while it didn't flicker, what it did do was exhibit the very start of the problem, which manifests as subtle vertical bars in the top panel's dark brown bar. So it may not be an Nvidia problem, but a kernel problem, that may have been fixed in 4.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1653323 Title: Severe screen flicker on Unity when terminal maximized To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1653323/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1653323] [NEW] Severe screen flicker on Unity when terminal maximized
Public bug reported: The screen experiences severe flicker when using Nvidia 375.26 on a GTX 1070 in 16.10, Unity Desktop -- but only when the terminal is in the top left of the screen or maximized, and is full of text. I made a video illustrating the problem: http://damonlynch.net/share /Ubuntu1610screen-flicker.mp4 Driver is from the "graphics-drivers" PPA. At this point I don't know if it's a hardware problem or software problem -- I've never seen anything like it before. I've ruled out the DisplayPort cable as a problem, because it exhibits the same problem with two different cables. The LCD is a Dell UP3017. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1630013] [NEW] glxinfo infinite loop, no live image desktop login
Public bug reported: On today's Yakkety Yak daily image I'm running into an infinite loop with glxinfo such that no desktop shows on login. The desktop is black (no cursor) and logging in via a console shows glxinfo running at 100%. Package version info according to packages.ubuntu.com is 1:1.0.12-2. My apologies but this bug report has been submitted manually because I could not install Yakkety Yak due to this bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 711093] Re: [Natty, Maverick, Lucid] External monitor connected w/ Display Port power management not working when laptop lid closed
A clarification: when I say the bug does not occur when the laptop lid is open, I should have added the important proviso that the laptop LCD panel should be an active display in addition to the external monitor. That is, both displays must be displaying the desktop. It is not important which mode is used, i.e. whether Same image in all monitors is checked in the Gnome Monitor Preferences or not. If the lid is merely open but the laptop LCD is powered off, the bug occurs. ** Summary changed: - [Natty,Maverick,Lucid] External monitor connected w/ Display Port power management not working when laptop lid closed + [Natty,Maverick,Lucid] External monitor connected w/ Display Port power management not working when laptop LCD powered off -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/711093 Title: [Natty,Maverick,Lucid] External monitor connected w/ Display Port power management not working when laptop LCD powered off ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 711093] Re: [Natty, Maverick, Lucid] External monitor connected w/ Display Port power management not working when laptop LCD powered off
Additional comment from linux thinkpad mailing list participant Alex Deucher: I think this may be a logic issue in gnome power manager (GPM) rather than the driver. If the following commands executed from a terminal blank the displays properly: sleep 5; xset dpms force off then the driver is working correctly. I have similar issues on fedora on a w500 with AMD gaphics, so I suspect it's a GPM issue. I can confirm running that command makes the external monitor sleep. Given Alex is seeing the problem on a Thinkpad with a discrete AMD display, he is probably correct -- this bug probably needs to be assigned to another package, perhaps Gnome Power Manager. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/711093 Title: [Natty,Maverick,Lucid] External monitor connected w/ Display Port power management not working when laptop LCD powered off ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 711093] [NEW] [Natty, Maverick, Lucid] External monitor connected w/ Display Port power management not working when laptop lid closed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg When an external monitor is connected to my Thinkpad T400s using the Display Port connection, the monitor never goes into an energy saving state despite the Gnome power saving settings being enabled. Gnome screen saver activates, but this does not conserve energy of course. This bug occurs only when the laptop lid is closed. The bug does not occur when the laptop lid is open. I have seen this problem with Lucid, Maverick and now the latest daily build of Natty. ubuntu-bug xorg crashed, so I don't know if you received the extra information you need or not.
