2019-10-28 Thread Daniele Besana (WP-OK)
I just upgraded to Ubuntu 19.10 but nothing changed.
I see the status of the bug is 'expired', is anyone working on this?
Thanks

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1846201] Re: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)

2019-10-02 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Ubuntu on Wayland has same behavior, but worst.

Video attached shows open a new tab with CTRL+T and the new tab not being
rendered until I create a new.
Then I remove both, I create a new one, not rendered, and got rendered only
when the mouse is moved.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/6Nc6oABXs1xX1ks26

This worked fine in 19.04 and works fine now with external display.

I'll send another video showing how windows animation for align right/left do
not work, windows just step from one state to the next with no animation.
Minimize/maximize are perfect.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1846201] Re: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)

2019-10-01 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
I've made a picture as screenrecord/screenshot can't cath the problem.
As you can see the render is still on "General" despite "Extensions" being the
current selection.
You can see at the top part of the rendering is restarted and is now stuck in
the middle.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1846201] Re: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)

2019-10-01 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Update.
Today I experienced this: after suspending the laptop, now I do not experience
broken rendering anymore.
This happened once before. Everytime I reboot, it comes back.

I'll try to identify a pattern here.

Also this is in the "Tweaks" application, gnome-shell does not have a
theme associated (see screenshot)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1762122] [NEW] drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware not working anymore on Ubuntu 18.04

2018-04-07 Thread Daniele Laudani
Public bug reported:

I installed today Ubuntu 18.04. I have a secondary monitor (Acer
AL1914), which does not provide a EDID, so I created one and usually
loaded directly from the kernel at startup.

The EDID is located here:
/lib/firmware/edid/al1914.bin

The kernel command line is this:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash
drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware=VGA-1:edid/al1914.bin"

On Ubuntu 16.04, this worked perfectly. Now, the additional mode from
the edid is not present among the resolutions available (I have to
create a new one and add it with cvt and xrandr once the system is
loaded).

2018-01-23 Thread Daniele Besana
Public bug reported:

Not sure I report this correctly.
Since updating to 18.04, all chrome extensions capturing the desktop (es.
Awesome Screenshot and Screencastify) don't work anymore.
They capture just a black screen.

Same problem after apt update && apt upgrade. Ubuntu 16.04.2 Unity, synclient

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1365695] Re: No longer able to use GUI after update

2014-10-09 Thread Daniele
Today I installed nvidia drivers on a fresh Ubuntu 14.04 install and
after a reboot the laptop did shutdown violently (like when you remove
the power instantly) while in the ubuntu loading screen. Could this be
related to this bug? It is a Sony vaio with a GeForce GT 640M LE

  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 476866] Re: two-finger scrolling does not work on Dell Studio 15 (1555) via gui config

2010-10-25 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
actually I solved using
http://gutsywww.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1517097

basically editing property with gconf-editor or running:

gconftool-2 --set /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/scroll_method
--type in

type 2 remove border scrolling and enables two-finger scrolling that now just
works.
The GUI bugs remains

2010-03-26 Thread Daniele Smartango
I can almost confirm that there is no more screen corruption with latest kernel:
3 boot and what I see is corruption before gdm set background, then screen
rendered correctly.
Still corruption in xv video playback.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 532756] Re: [GeForce 6100 GO] Image and Xv corruption

2010-03-16 Thread Daniele Smartango
Sorry, this do not make sense to me, corruption is random, sometime happen
sometime no ...
Anyway disabling acceleration is not an option if someone want to use pc for
something else than have nice picture on monitor:
every time I scroll I have to wait 2 second for monitor to refresh ...
for some reason application (or gtk or other library) use heavy algorithm
for scrolling that make things more slowly than a 15 year old pc.
The only option for scrolling in firefox (continuous) is disabled.

I reenabled accel, I randomly get no corrupted screen, tough I set NoXVideo true
but it is not used.

There is an option to disable nouveau for some chipset and use nv?
thus option for who want to test nouveau on go 6100
is to use edges archives
