I'm using Ubuntu 22.10, but i've tested on Ubuntu 22.04 and isn't
working too, but on Ubuntu 22.04 there is another bug than libinput
recognizes the touchpad as clickpad and this bug is fixed on Ubuntu
22.10.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1822361] Re: nouveau driver seems doesn't work on nvidia GTX 1050 Ti noteook card

2019-03-29 Thread Edson T. Marques
PS: I must clarify that at the moment I have already updated the video driver
of my notebook for nvidia (I used "ubuntu-drivers" for it). But the problem in
question always happens, from the first installation of ubuntu where,
originally, the nouveau drive is installed.
In this case I resolved to give a purge in the previous version of the nvidia
driver that I had installed, to then redo the installation of the new version
418 ... after the purge I was forced to reboot the computer before reinstalling
the nvidia driver. .. and had to go through the whole problem of trying to use
the nouveau driver in this notebook. That's where I got the photos from the log
screens.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1822361] [NEW] nouveau driver seems doesn't work on nvidia GTX 1050 Ti noteook card

2019-03-29 Thread Edson T. Marques
Public bug reported:

Hello! Good afternoon!

I believe this should be the second time I try to report this
malfunction case that I believe may be related to the xserver-xorg-
video-nouveau driver, running on nvidia GTX1050 video card laptops (as
is my case notebook). Sorry if that's not the case!

Anyway, I decided to report this bug and add some images I got when,
after several failed attempts to login with my gnome user, with the
frozen interface and the committed execution flow, I was lucky to get a
successful Ctrl + Alt + F4 or Ctrl + Alt + F5 and got access to a text-
mode session, which worked in the "leaps" but which allowed me at least
after several minutes of patience to view this log, which I believe has
some clue that may be happening. Sorry again, now for the bad quality of
the photos, I had to take several of the same screen because of lighting
problems and focus.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1820997] [NEW] ubuntu is freezinUbuntu is freezing with two video monitors

2019-03-20 Thread Edson T. Marques
Public bug reported:

Hello,
As you can see in the attached report, I have a Dell, Inspiron notebook with
Nvidia 1050 etc ... I connected to this notebook (through the HDMI port) a
monitor LG 23EA53 ...
Initially the Nouveau driver never worked properly with this video card. It is
a huge pain to do a Ubuntu installation on this notebook because it is very
expensive after installation to get the notebook to start in a text mode
session with internet... and then manually install the Nvidia driver ... But
even with those difficulties (that simply prevent a lay user from having Ubuntu
on their Dell notebook with Nvidia 1050) I was able to give outline solutions
for this.
I always try to use the development version of Ubuntu with the expectation of
being able to help with the tests. So I'm currently using a "Disco" completely
updated... At first (up to 3 months ago) I was working on a Ubuntu session on
Xorg because the Wayland session did not allow me to use another video monitor
connected to my notebook. However, from that time, there was a reversal, the
Xorg session stopped working with the HDMI monitor and Xwayland started
detecting and setting normally this monitor via HDMI.
Well, that's where the problem is! The video monitor is detected, gnome-shell
appears and runs normally on both monitors, but after a few moments of use, the
GUI simply freezes! It always freezes on a point where the mouse cursor is in
background processing mode. In this situation Linux gets completely frozen, not
even the CapsLock, or Ctrl+Shift+F"n" keys work.
The only way out is to completely turn off the notebook using the power button,
then turn the notebook on again with the HDMI monitor disconnected to prevent
further freezing.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1716385] Re: crash on change focus between apps in two workspaces

2017-09-13 Thread Edson T. Marques
I'm doing some tests but there is a possibility that the cause of these
crashs is some or some gnome extensions.

I turned off the extensions:

- Native Windows Placement
(https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/18/native-window-placement/)
- Auto Move Windows
(https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/16/auto-move-windows/)
- Window Navigator (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/10/windownavigator/)

... and I tried to repeat the incident but it looks like the gnome-shell
has stabilized

I'm setting this bug as invalid.

This crash occurs when both applications are in the same workspace as
well ... And if one of the applications is a virtual machine session of
Virtualbox, crash occurs more quickly (with less focus shifts).

I've been thinking a bit, and if this bug is related to the gnome-shell,
please excuse me. I do not know if it would be convenient to repeat this
same report and generate an apport with the same content for gnome-
shell.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1716385] [NEW] crash on change focus between apps in two workspaces

2017-09-11 Thread Edson T. Marques
Public bug reported:

I believe this bug is related to the video driver but I'm not sure ...
Anyway there goes the report:

This is a crash that happens every time I open two different
applications (for example: Chromium and Nautilus), one of them in
workspace 1 and the other in workspace 2.

When I change the focus between them for some time (from 3 to 5 times),
there is a crash that causes, first, the window manager (or gnome shell,
I'm not sure) to reboot, then, if I insist on trying to switch between
the applications for some more times, the crash seems to be more severe
and ubuntu returns to the login screen (gdm3).

I'm using a dell inspiron 15 series 7000 (gaming), notebook with 2
displays (one is the display of the notebook itself and the other is an
LG 23EA53, connected via HDMI and configured as a primary)

To make the focus change I use the mouse, I click on "Activities" and,
with the mouse, I click on the application that appears in the
workspaces pile to the right of the display, below and above,
successively until the crach occurs.

Usando Alt-TAB parece, a princípio, que o crash não ocorre... or it
takes longer to occur :-)

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1292961] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT

2014-04-15 Thread Edson T. Marques
I'm really sorry but I afraid that this may not be possible. My level of
experience in linux is very low for this ...
But I can install and test if you can compile and package it appropriately
in a 'deb' (or binary) and send me ... unless that was only interesting if
built right here in my own computer.

Is it possible for you to compile xf86-video-intel.git with --enable-

Sorry, I was unable to reproduce the crash. I performed the same steps I
did before, but without success. Maybe it's because I stopped using two
monitors (I had another monitor, Sansung SyncMaster2233, coupled with my
notebook). I have to find some way to get that other monitor (which is
owned by my company) again and make a new attempt. I hope I can do it
tomorrow.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1264167] [NEW] Desempeño grafico

2013-12-25 Thread Edson Joao Patiño
Public bug reported:

llvmpipe (LLVM 3.3, 128 bits)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068661] Re: Unity does not load after installing fglrx/fglrx-updates in ATI/Radeon + Intel GPU hybrid systems

2012-11-01 Thread Edson
Nick, you were right. I figured out that I was probabily forgetting to
unload the fglrx module after changing it. So, I restarted the system
(in order to avoid any mistake), and fglrx from Ubuntu repository
worked.

I also upgraded to your intel module newer package and everything kept
working well. Thanks for fixing it for us!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068661] Re: Unity does not load after installing fglrx/fglrx-updates in ATI/Radeon + Intel GPU hybrid systems

2012-10-29 Thread Edson
Nick, regarding no being necessary your fglrx-updates package, I'm
afraid it isn't true for everybody.

Yesterday I tried it again, in order to report the results here, and
indeed, fglrx-updates-9.000-0ubuntu3 gives me the same segmentation
fault error, even with your Xorg Intel driver package installed.

For me, not even the 12.10 stable driver from ATI's website worked out
(same error as before). The only sucessfull combination was xserver-
xorg-video-intel and fglrx-updates from your PPA, for which I should
thank you very much, BTW.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068661] Re: 1002:6740 Unity does not load after installing fglrx-updates Radeon HD 6700M Series

2012-10-27 Thread Edson
For those who have hybrid video Intel/AMD.

Install xserver-xorg-video-intel and fglrx-updates from this PPA[1].
After installing it, don't forget to setup xorg.conf with aticonfig
tool. That worked for me.

Obs: now, I'm in trouble trying to enable video GPU acceleration with
libva. =P

@pcworld, my issue is the same as Pubudu's one. Exactly the same
behavior with similar video card setups (a notebook with two cards,
onboard and dedicated).

Indeed, I thought the same, but Christopher told me to do that, and I
believe he knows how this thing works (much better than I does), so I
just didn't argue. =)
