[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1644986] [NEW] Screen flickering since 16.10 upgrade

2016-11-26 Thread Fernando Fernandez
Public bug reported:

I'm noticing some random screen flickering since 16.10 upgrade.
Something like every 10 minutes, mainly on the secondary monitor (hdmi
connected), but sometimes on the laptop display too.

Not sure if it's related, but when using LibreOffice Impress to display
presentations on the secondary display the problem worsens, but it's
only flickering in parts of the display, not all.

HTH

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1299792] Re: Xorg dumping core on Hibrid graphics Intel+ATI

2014-03-30 Thread Fernando Fernandez
This bug filing might not be complete because ubuntu-bug was not working
at the time. Only managed to send the bug after having found a
workaround.

You can see a small history of the problem at
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2213955

Summarising:
Xorg on live usb stick doesn't find the ATI card, so it works with the intel
one, and it's fine, apparently.

After install, the same Xorg finds different list of hardware, including
the ATI card and tries to work with it, and dumps core.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1299792] Re: Xorg dumping core on Hibrid graphics Intel+ATI

2014-03-30 Thread Fernando Fernandez
Here is the xorg logfile from the situation where it dumps core. It's
after the first reboot.

Apparently, X finds a different list of hardware, tries to use the ATI
card and fails.

2010-03-27 Thread Fernando Fernandez
Since I reported this bug two things to note:
1. Logout no longer turns off the backlight permanently - the login screen
turns it on
2. CTRL-ALT-F1 does, but CTRL-ALT-F7 turns it on again - the system is usable

Also: Lucid beta 1 still is affected

I can't switch to a console with CTRL+ALT+F1.

Also, after one logout, I can no longer login because it never lights up
again. Keyboard still works, and I can work blind.
