[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1011090] [NEW] GPU not detected on boot often, but launching lightdm manually always works

2012-06-10 Thread Gionn
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm having X startup problems when using NVIDIA proprietary drivers
(nouveau works like a charm).

Seems that X is started too early for the NVIDIA module to successful
detect my graphic card, since manually launching sudo start lightdm from
tty1 always works.

Often I get the failsafe session on bootup, rarely i get only the tty
login only.

xorg.0.log
[ 7.525] (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA kernel module.
Please see the
[ 7.525] (EE) NVIDIA(0): system's kernel log for additional error
messages and
[ 7.525] (EE) NVIDIA(0): consult the NVIDIA README for details.

[ 7.525]
Fatal server error:

Full logs are attached.

Thanks!

Same here on karmic.

Isn't there any way to add a quirk in xorg for adding at least:
Option "UseDisplayDevice" "DFP-0"
on my xorg.conf?
