[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1261916] [NEW] Missing letters in spice client session with KVM guest

2013-12-17 Thread Goatsly
Public bug reported:

Host: Xubuntu 13.04
Guest: Xubuntu 14.04 with qxl graphics

When connecting to a KVM guest via Spice client characters are not
displayed (in graphical mode), to such extent that messages become
unreadable/guest becomes unusable.

This bug was reported and kind of resolved for Red Hat/Fedora:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=974198
The mentioned workaround to add kernel parameter nomodeset worked for me up to
now.

Proposed resolution: Upgrade Debian/Ubuntu package to an up-to-date
upstream release.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 460478] Re: X crash on start (Xubuntu)

2010-05-18 Thread Goatsly
I tested this bug on Lucid again:

I changed /etc/X11/xorg.conf entries back to

Option SWcursor false # [bool]
Option HWcursor true # [bool]

again. The bug doesn't occur anymore. Login worked always at the first
attempt since then.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 460478] Re: X crash on start (Xubuntu)

2009-11-22 Thread Goatsly
Since in the backtrace there was something about cursor, I tried editing
xorg.conf and changed the following in Device Section:

Option SWcursor true
Option HWcursor false

Now login always works on the first attempt.

2009-10-29 Thread Goatsly
I just saw that there's a ?? when calling nv_drv.so in the backtrace.
But there's no *-dbg package for xserver-xorg-video-nv. If it's of any
relevance, could you please point me to some information how to get
debug symbols for this driver?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 460478] Re: Need more login tries to start X (Xubuntu)

2009-10-26 Thread Goatsly
You're right, there's a backtrace at the end of the Xorg.0.log.old.
(attached)

The procedure when the xserver is failing is that (after entering the password):
1. the xubuntu glowfly screen
2. blanking
3. the glowfly screen
4. white screen
5. login screen again

on success it's:
1. glowfly screen
2. blanking
3. changed resolution glowfly screen
4. white screen
5. xfce desktop
