[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 589485] Re: Ignores physical display size and calculates based on 96DPI

2012-06-27 Thread Graeme Hewson
I wonder how much configuration iOS users need to do to get a Retina
display set up? The answer "none" comes to mind.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 801952] Re: problem with ATI Catalyst Control Center (Administrative Mode) launcher

2012-03-29 Thread Graeme Hewson
Patch attached for Kubuntu.

Could someone add code for Ubuntu? The problem is that in su_gnome(),
amdxdg-su looks for gnomesu and xsu, but these don't exist. It looks
simple enough to look for gksudo instead/as well. HOWEVER detectDE()
inspects $GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID, the value of which is "this-is-
deprecated". Clearly a better fix would change detectDE() as well to use
some other way of detecting if it's running under GNOME.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 604100] [NEW] Window height inconsistent with proprietary Nvidia driver

2010-07-10 Thread Graeme Hewson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Release:10.04

This is actually Kubuntu.

Using the default Nouveau driver in Lucid, I used the KDE
Advanced/Special Applications Settings dialogue in Konsole (right click
if you're right-handed over the Menu icon in the top left corner) to set
the default Size (Apply Initially) to 590,688 pixels on my 1680x1050
pixel display. This gave me a character size in Konsole of 80 wide by 40
high.

After installing "NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version current)
[Recommended]", the same setting gave a Konsole height of 43 rows. To
revert to 40 rows, I had to set 590,644 pixels in KDE.

Of course, this doesn't necessarily point to a bug in Nouveau. Maybe
there's a bug in the proprietary driver, or maybe in both. They are
inconsistent with each other, though.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
