[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 813809] Re: fglrx do not works : HP notbook dv6 - AMD Radeon HD 6300 Series

2011-07-21 Thread Guillaume Modard
I've investigate a little bit more this bug.

Actually, I haven't installed ATI proprietary driver. So I use only free
drivers.

Here is the result of some command :

guillaume@guillaume-notebook:~$ glxinfo | grep enderer
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ironlake Mobile

According to glxinfo, render is done by the Intel integrated card.

guillaume@guillaume-notebook:~$ grep /drivers/ /var/log/Xorg.0.log
[24.493] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so
[24.519] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/vesa_drv.so
[24.540] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/fbdev_drv.so
[24.543] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so

Here, no radeon or radeonHD driver is loaded.

Finally, lspci show the ATI graphic card and says : Kernel driver in
use: radeon

What does it mean ? Does the ATI card is used or not ?

When I install proprietary driver, Catalyst says something like no
graphic card...

I'm not sure this bug has really been solved :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/727620 and
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30052

I'm not a specialist... is it a Kernel bug ? or Xorg bug ?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 727620] Re: [Radeon HD 5650 and 5470] Kernel BUG during recovery boot and in normal boot (Hybrid graphics)

2011-05-16 Thread Guillaume Modard
I can confirm that :

- The bug is due to Switchable ATI + Intel graphics
- Both free and proprio driver do not work correctly :
-- Free Driver : Boot correctly every 5 to 10 time, without a complete support
of the ATI Graphic Card (comes very hot some time...)
-- Proprio Driver : Boot correctly every time, but with the intel integrated
graphic card (no Unity, only 2D gnome panel without effects)
- Most of the last HP laptop have this bug (= Ubuntu do note work on most of
the last HP laptop)

Is there any deadline for correct this critical bug ?
Does any team really work on it ?

2011-03-21 Thread Guillaume Modard
I confirm that the bug is still there. I install last update this
morning (I saw xserver-xorg-video-ati, -radeon... update so I was
expecting the bug to be solved).

When I restart, I need to reboot more than 5 time before I get a
desktop. And now, when the boot crash, I don't get any shell, screen
stay black (as if it is off).

I really expect this bug will be solved before the final release. If
not, Ubuntu won't work on plenty of the last HP pavilion laptop.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 728668] [NEW] Need to start computer multiple time to get interface

2011-03-03 Thread Guillaume Modard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I bought a new Laptop : HP Pavilion dv6. I've installed Ubuntu 11.04
without any trouble (it was slow, but no error).

Now, to start my computer, I need to restart several time to get the
User Interface. Sometime, I've to do it more than 6 time. In stead of
starting, I get the an error (see image, sorry for the poor quality).

I can't explain why the computer start correctly after some reboot. I do
nothing, just press the power button after the error, then, reboot.
After doing this several time, Unity start.

The error told me about Radeon. So I imagine that it can come from :
- The New Xorg version
- The Free Radeon Graphic driver
- Unity
- Plymouth

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 511872] Re: OpenGL doesn't work with nvidia-current 190.53

2010-04-22 Thread Guillaume Modard
I think I've a similar bug. When I use OpenGL app, screen refresh start
to be really slow after a while (It can be 5 minutes or 2 hours... and I
can't really explain it with a specific action). Some points appear when
I move windows (after the freeze) and I can't use OpenGL app if I do
not restart.

This bug didn't exist in 9.10.

My conf :
