[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2062504] [NEW] Flickering problems on external monitor with HDMI after installing Ubuntu 23.10
Public bug reported: I just installed ubuntu 23.10 on my thinkpad L13. It works fine on my laptop monitor. But when I connect an HDMI cable to my other monitor, then the screen flickers on the laptop and nothing shows on the other monitor I know it can't be the problem with the other monitor as I bought it brand new last week, and the cable works fine on this same laptop when I run in windows, and it works fine on other laptops with windows/mac I already installed the driver with `sudo apt install nvidia-driver-535 nvidia-dkms-535` and rebooted, but that didn't help. I then installed driver 550 and I still have the flickering This laptop uses an intel Alder Lake-UP3 GT2 I also tried editing `etc/default/grub` by adding 'nomodeset' or 'radeon.modeset=0' within the quotation marks in the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT but that didn't help either can anyone help? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1752938] Re: Upgrading Ubuntu 18.04 disables GPU hardware acceleration
Same problem here. After upgrading my laptop from Lubuntu 16.04 to Lubuntu 18.04, there is no hardware acceleration anymore. AMD STONEY was perfectly capable of this on the older release. glxinfo shows: OpenGL renderer string: llvmpipe (LLVM 6.0, 128 bits) /var/log/Xorg.0.log shows: [16.679] (EE) AMDGPU(0): eglGetDisplay() failed [16.679] (EE) AMDGPU(0): glamor detected, failed to initialize EGL. [16.685] (==) AMDGPU(0): DRI3 disabled ... Tried creating a xorg.conf and forcing DRI to 3, but no dice. LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE is not set, there is no /etc/X11/Xsession.d/50_check_unity_support, so it's probably not bug #1767468. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1752938 Title: Upgrading Ubuntu 18.04 disables GPU hardware acceleration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1752938/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1728741] [NEW] Xorg freeze
Public bug reported: Will not come back after screen lock. The main VAIO laptop lid monitor does not come back, stays dark, no backlight. I have a second HDMI monitor. The HDMI monitor will come back from screen lock, but scrambled. Mouse does not appear. I have also tried suckless.org slock with same result. Closing and opening the lid does not help. I also hear the laptop fan come on when trying to restore which indicates CPU is probably running away. No keyboard sequence seems to work, though I have not tested this exhaustively. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1688200] [NEW] libgles2-mesa-dev breaks gstreamer-imx video acceleration (14.04 armhf)
Public bug reported: Installing libgles2-mesa-dev 10.1.3-0ubuntu0.6 armhf together with libxcb-randr0 breaks accelerated video playback with gstreamer-imx on UDOObuntu 2.1.2 (based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS - see http://www.udoo.org/downloads/). This could be broken installation scripts or missing Pre-Depends. For example, video playback works fine on udoobuntu-udoo-qdl-desktop_2.1.img: # VIDEO + SOUND OK - without libgles2-mesa-dev installed gst-launch-1.0 playbin uri=file:///home/udooer/big_buck_bunny_720p_h264.mp4 gst123 big_buck_bunny_720p_h264.mp4 Introduce breakage by installing libgles2-mesa-dev *without* having libxcb-randr0 installed: sudo apt-get -y --purge remove libxcb-randr0 && sudo apt-get -y install libgles2-mesa-dev gst-launch-1.0 playbin uri=file:///home/udooer/big_buck_bunny_720p_h264.mp4 # BLACK & PAUSED gst123 big_buck_bunny_720p_h264.mp4 # SOUND ONLY + BLACK WINDOW Note that just uninstalling libgles2-mesa-dev does *NOT* fix the issue, only uninstalling libxcb-randr0 and reinstalling it before or without libgles2-mesa-dev brings video playback back to live. Workaround1, complete libxcb-randr0 installation before installing libgles2-mesa-dev: sudo apt-get -y --purge remove libxcb-randr0 && sudo apt-get -y install libxcb-randr0 && sudo apt-get -y install libgles2-mesa-dev # VIDEO + SOUND OK for gst-launch-1.0 and gst123 Workaround2, install all dependencies before libgles2-mesa-dev: sudo apt-get -y --purge remove libxcb-randr0 && sudo apt-get -y install libegl1-mesa-dev && sudo apt-get -y install libgles2-mesa-dev # VIDEO + SOUND OK for gst-launch-1.0 and gst123 So it looks like the libgles2-mesa-dev installation process if run before libxcb-randr0 has finished installation (libc triggers run, etc), messes up some configuration bits of libxcb-randr0 which stick around even after libgles2-mesa-dev is uninstalled. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1482697] [NEW] display looses resolution settings after suspend
Public bug reported: Dear Developers, i have a Lenovo Yoga 3 with u15.04. After coming out from suspend (opening the led), the display looses its resolution settings and shows a higher resolution display. Yoga 3 can do 3200 x 1800, though I use it in 1920x1080 as otherwise the gui's menus and icons are too small. After opening the led - coming out from suspend - the display switches many times to 3200x1800. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c
"xkb-data is architecture independent,..." Great! This makes things easier for everybody. I'll try again late, after work, and share here. (I've tried with apt-get and, of course, it didn't found the repo. ) "If there proves to be a consensus on this approach to deal with the issue - possibly after some modifications - we should better leave the PPAs and propose that it's included in the archives, both in Ubuntu and upstream." In my very humble opinion, this seems to be the most KISS solution for the issue. "In other words, I hope that a few users install xdb-data from my PPA, test, and give feedback here." I'll help spreading the word and asking some fellows if they are using US intl dead keys keyboards. Hi, Leandro? What you think about this? Can you help with some testers? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c
@Gunnar first of all, thank you for your (weekend :) time and good will with this issue. And yes, of course, this can be considered an answer. Now I know where to start searching for the changes that affected the old behaviour. Unfortunately, I cannot test your PPA because my machine (this) is running Trusty (14.04.1) in an AMD64. But I have an old spare 386 for tests. I will test in it after work and share here. If all goes well, I'll try to learn how to package for PPA and (if I succeed, of course) publish a version for Trusty-64 too. Is this ok? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c
@Gunnar It seems to me that since there is an workaround (uim + some local hack) a lot of people who could help speed this up will not. But as long as IBus is used by a lot of distros (default in Ubuntu and Fedora, according to Wikipedia), the issue remains. Could you, please, point me what kind of research should be done? Maybe finding the commit that changed the behaviour? Do you think this can be understood as a regression? Or IBus (assuming it as the culprit) was changed by design?
